Red hot @ idle

    curious how you locked out the distributor. Ive never locked an hei. I throw them away :)

    Took all the stuff out of it and welded it together LOL. I have another distributor, going to throw that in and see if I screwed up the other one.

    Just wondering if its possible it got positioned so the rotor and the pickup are too far out of range making the rotor out of phase causing a cross fire.

    Have someone crank it while you watch it with a timing light.

    Just in case anyone else has this issue, make sure you don't pull a rookie mistake and weld the distributor all the way advanced lol... that's what was wrong... made a plate so everything stays aligned, dropped her in with a fresh set a plugs and started right up. Thanks for all your responses.

    Cool .

    Now set the timing at 30 degrees at idle and the glowing headers should go away .
