Sometimes that lip of the oil pan gasket will leak where it contacts the timing cover. I spray it out really well and fill the gap with silicone and let it dry.

I may do that as well to rule it out.

Last night I pulled the balancer again and the crank seal was pinched again. I'm going to buy a new seal today and be REAALLLYYY careful installing it, for the third time now.

I got the new coils in last night and fought the damper for a while before I got it back on. The damn seal kept folding in on itself and it only took about 15 tries.

I'll try and get some videos up tonight so this thread is worth watching again, LOL!

I had a minor freak out this morning. I'm off work today, I got my coffee, cracked open the laptop at the kitchen table, and looked at my datalog from yesterday.

    RPM? 3600 and change... OK
    AFR? Safe.
    Timing? Seems reasonable.
kPa? 112.... Man, it's been so long, I forgot what that translates to in psi... *opens Google*

    112kPA = 16.8 PSI
Y'all, I about spit my fkn coffee everywhere. How in the HELL was I making 16 psi at only 3600 rpm at half throttle?????
And then it hit me.... this is absolute pressure. Completely forgot that atmospheric pressure is 101 kPa.

    Alright, I'm awake now.

    Yep.

I'm still fighting an oil leak, so I've gotta drain the coolant and pull the water pump and timing cover this week and re-do the gaskets. I've been having a hard time finding it - at first I thought it was the crank seal, so I replaced it. Then I thought it was the rubber seal between the timing cover and the oil pan, so I siliconed the crap out of it. Looks like I was close, but no cigar:

I pressurized the crank case some and that's what I saw. Bummer.

Is that a crack somewhere? Hard to see.

No, i think it’s just bad gaskets and/or installation. I learned the value of a 1 piece oil pan gasket here. Here’s today’s effort:

I cleaned everything out real well and re- applied an RTV bead in there. If it doesn’t work, I’ll tear it all the way down and put new gaskets in.

I really really hope this works! I'm going to leave work here in a bit and go fire it up and see what happens.

I think i fixed it. So naturally, i had to go drive around in the rain and yell “I’m a street car”. Actually, it was raining way harder than i thought and went through some large puddles i couldn’t see. Not smart, but she took it like a champ.

Busy weekend! Went to a car show Saturday and got a couple 2nd place trophies, then cruised about 75 miles this morning.

The car ran great cruising, but has a bad vibration in the upper rpms. I’m too burned out to care right now. It cruises and that’s all i care about for now.

Congrats man! Get out and enjoy it. Weather has taken a dump here, but it was sunny today so I drove it to work. Love hearing the turbo spool. Lol.

well not quite. The engine has a nasty vibration in the upper RPMs. I'm going to pull the oil filter tonight and see what's in it. If it's a glitter bomb, the car is going up for sale. Im done with it.

If no glitter, then I have an imbalance issue, I'm guessing. Everything should be 28oz.

Not sure. I'm pretty burned out on it, so I may not get around to taking it apart anytime soon. I also put the car up for sale at a ridiculous price ($7500) so if it sells, it sells.
