The wrap really helped pull that hood back into the look of the car. It was rather stand-outish visually before, but now it flows right in.

    Good luck with it!

Thanks Guys, feels good just to have the car back together again. I really hated the idea of it sitting in the shop needing repaired. Definitely alot of work, not to mention spending the money to get it repaired. We're hoping to finish the year out and just have a little bit of fun with it. We originally were thinking to get it out to the track ASAP, but we still don't have enough data to make some full passes. Mike w/ Mike Ward Racing was kind enough to offer us his chassis dyno and time for us to sort out the tune up, so we decide to take advantage of it and we'll be going there before we go back out to the track. We're going to Mike's tomorrow, I'll post the results as soon as we are finished. We're hoping to hit the track next week for a test-n-tune session before NMRA Labor Day Weekend. We'll be doing some testing during the NMRA Event to get ready for a local Heads-Up race called King of Columbus, which is on Sept. 11th. We'll see how things go, it would be nice for things to go well for the rest of the year before we put the car away for the winter. We'll post the results soon...John

Hell John.,,Good luck..hey,and don't lay it up for the winter, come down south and do a little testing during the winter months.thats my plan.we have tracks open year round with great weather during the winter.nice cool air,no humidity.no sweating to death in your suit in a hot ass car..

    Re: GEARDRIVEN F-2 PROCHARGER...Dyno Results...08-29-09

Made the trip to the chassis dyno. We decided to go a different direction to set-up a baseline for the tune-up. We thought we would try the VP C-16 again without the water injection, make some safe pulls and see how the combination liked it. We started with the base timing at 32 degrees and pulled the timing back to 20 degrees. We made the first couple pulls from 2500 to 4000 rpm's. After playing around with the jetting we were able to get some good AFR's up to 4000 rpm. We made the next few pulls from 2500 to 6000, the AFR's were good at lower rpm but seem to get fat at upper rpm. After playing around with the carb and a few adjustments, we decided to make a few pulls up to 7000 rpm.

We were able to get a few nice crisp pulls, but it seems to get fat as the rpm and boost increases. We were happy with what we came away with, especially considering we were non-intercooled and 20 degrees of timing. The best pull of the day was 963 hp and 674 torque. We're going to be trouble shooting the fuel system on the return side and the bypass regulator. Once we have the fuel system sorted out, we plan to make some hits with the C-16 and one stage of water with some increase in timing. We plan to do some track testing next week. I'll keep you posted and hopefully we'll have some video of the testing at the track...John

    Car looks great John!

That thing is going to put some some big power once you get the tune dialed in with some more timing. Remember, it's easier to creep up on the tune - you have nothing to prove - the car's look speaks volumes.

I wasn't too sure about that big cowl at first but the wrap has toned it down - looks nice.

    Keep me posted.......................

Those are outstanding numbers for 20 degrees of timing and rich!

How much boost, and how rich was it?

We were seeing 27 lbs of boost on the 7000 rpm pulls, the AFR's were in the 10.8 to 11.2 range. I would say for a average, the AFR's were around 11.6, being most of our pulls were up to 4000 and 6000 rpm's. It looks like were seeing lower boost numbers due to not using the water injection we were using previously. We had the 1.32 ratio gearset in the geardrive for the dyno session. Doing the math, we were spinning the blower in the 50,000 range. If we can keep the boost numbers down, we may be able to change out the gearset to the 1.56 set to get the blower working a little harder.

Hopefullly we're moving the right direction with the tune-up. We'll see how the track testing goes later this week...

    Kil-Kare Test-N-Tune...

Our testing after the last chassis dyno started last Thurs. evening. Our plan was to make a few short hits to check the chassis set-up out and see what our A/F numbers were like before we went to NMRA Columbus. We left the same tune-up in the car from the chassis dyno session. We made a trip down to Kil-Kare for their Thurs. nite test-n-tune, their track usally is really good for testing. There weren't as many slick car's that they usally have, they had a NHRA License test session on the night before. On the first pass we ran the car out to about the 330' and rolled out of the throttle, the car went 5.94 at 105. The second pass we moved to the left lane, a few guys told us the left lane was hooking better than the right. We ran the car out about 500' and it went 5.67 at 117. The A/F's were looking good for the short runs we made. We loaded up and we're ready for a weekend of testing at National Trail Raceway w/ the NMRA...

    NMRA Columbus...

We decided that it would be better to test with as close to our normal set-up that we would be running for the remaining events of the year. This put us right in the middle of the Pro Outlaw 10.5 Class, OK...this should be interesting...The nice thing was they typically have only been fielding 6 or 7 cars, so we would be in the money as soon as we entered. Going down to tech the car in with the other Outlaw 10.5 cars, at least our car looked like it belonged. Looking at the rules and weighing in, we were only 650 lbs over the minimum allowed weight for our combination The tech offical asked if we were sure we entered the correct class, he did comment on well engineered the car was though.

    Fri. Testing...

First hit...aborted run, drove the car out of the groove. Definitely different vision with the new hood, looking way down the track to keep it going straight.

Second pass...Full Pass...8.96 @ 153 Car felt lazy coming out of the water box, really rich going down the track.

    Sat. Testing...

We decided to make some jet changes to get the A/F Ratio's a little leaner, and clean up the next run. We thought we would leave the timing curve alone until we were happy with the A/F's...

First Pass...The car picked up 3 mph in the 1/8 and 8 mph in the 1/4. We went 5.73 @ 125 in the 1/8 and 8.82 @ 161 in the 1/4...The car liked the jet change, it picked up 36 mph from the 1/8 to the 1/4...

The A/F's were looking better so we thought we would play with the timing curve a little to see if we could help it at the shift change. The converter is definitely to tight, we're dropping 1700 rpm between shifts. It's letting the boost drop from 31 lbs. down to 15 lbs, definitely the lazy feeling going down the track. All the chassis dyno pulls are done in high gear, this was our first chance to look at it on the Race-Pak Data. We keep the 20 degrees total timing, we moved the curve closer to the shift point...

Second Pass...We ran the car out to the 1/8 to see if the timing change helped. It went 5.63 @ 127...

Sunday First Round Eliminations...We figured this would be our last run for the weekend, so decided to give the car a couple degrees of timing and move the curve closer to the gear change again. The car picked up everywhere during the pass. 5.62 @ 127 in the 1/8 and 8.64 @ 164 in the 1/4, 37 mph gain on the run from the 1/8 on. You know you've lost the race, when the guy your running is pulling his chutes when your at the 1000' mark...lol

Overall, we had a great time testing, got some good data and figured out, the converter will be coming out later this week. Not for sure how much more is left in the combination without the water injection or a intercooler. We'll get a new or different converter in the car this week and try to go test again on Thurs. night at Kil-Kare before the KOC Race on Fri. evening. Big Ed will be posting some video later as soon as he has everything uploaded. Big Thanks go out to the Crew for working all weekend, Patrick Barnhill and Mike Ward for their help also, looking at the data on the runs. We also had a great time pitting across from Tim Huspen, nice having your carb tuner right next to you to help out...John

Nice job. Your car is awesome. Some huge increases with just AF and timing. This car has so much potential.

    Thanks,

    Michael

    Hell yeah John,
With the converter and some tuning it will be flying.nice runs for being a new combo.i know you made test hits when the hood left you but i know you didnt get alot of data then.at least now you have something to work with now.

There is a fellow up here in our area who goes by Junior. He has an 8.2 deck motor with an F-2 on it. On Friday night of this past week I watched him go 7.3x @ 196mph (or something very close to what I just posted. I can't remember the exact numbers...). Someone said that it was the FASTEST known F-2 Procharger pass ever. I don't know how true that is, but his car sure was getting it done. So, suffice it to say that blower of yours will push that car much faster than what you are going now ;)
