I cut the flange and all the panels out and basically brought everything ready to weld, with the exception of the top panel, Mike put the bends into it, and mike cut out the piece from a 5" tube for the bottom curve under the TB. I used 3/16 for the sides and top, and 1/2" for all the flanges. The front curve under the TB is made from a piece of 5" aluminum tubing, and it's whatever thickness RPS sells.

Thankfully i just paid for the little pieces I bought... you can actually buy all the parts for a GT motor for far cheaper than buying the crate version.

Anywhere in particular you bought the GT stuff from? Like the shortblock or engine parts mainly. I have an 03 Lightning and am interested in putting a stronger shortblock in it.

The shortblock itself isn't a GT part at all, i used a new iron block, forged crank, manley billet rods, diamond pistons, and ARP fasteners. Very similar to what VT, MMR, etc... sell. The only "gt" parts on the motor are the heads, valvetrain, and intake manifold, as well as some other smaller cosmetic stuff on the motor like the coil covers.

Well I kinda figured that is what you might have done after posting the question. Thanks for the reply though!

Welded up what you would refer to as the catback.. On his application we used a single Magnaflow (4") into the dual 5" ( I believe) tips.

How tall is the intake bonnet?

And would you guys be interested in duplicating it for a certain 2003 Cobra that may be getting a 5.4 aluminum GT block :chacha:

    If so.....How much?

    PM if you want!

I guess I'll ask... Why go with dual 42lb'ers instead of larger injectors?

Probably because that's how Ford did it on the GT. It's easier to get a fine spray pattern out of a pair of 42 lb/hr injectors than it is with a single 84 lb/hr injector (think emissions, efficiency, etc.). And you have the option of turning off one of the 42 lb/hr injectors per cylinder when not needed (idle, cruising, etc.). All injectors have a minimum duty cycle (they can open and close only so quickly), so the bigger the injector, the bigger the minimum flow rate. If the minimum flow rate of an 84 lb/hr injector is more than this engine needs at idle, then it will idle rich and there is nothing that you can do about it.

Besides, Ford probably has the 42s on the shelf, and high impedance injectors aren't commonly available upwards of 84 lb/hr.
