Funny where he says "Bottom line - don't just buy a caprice, get one no one else has - a diesel."

Uh... there's a reason no one else has one!

One of my uncles had an 88 with the Olds diesel, and loved it. Hell we even pulled the race car to the track a few times.... a 4 hr drive.

I have read the water separators on them were junk and they had rod bolt issues early on. And probably the lack of a few psi of intake pressure as well. You also had a public that probably expected maintenance like a car too.

A guy I work with used to work in an engine reman shop in the 80's-90's. He said it was literally an olds 350 with an injection pump mounting pad added. They tried rebuilding them a few times but they always got returned. After a few years when they got one as a core, they just threw it away.

They were a little different than their gas counterparts.... block was beefier, and of course the heads were different with the injector, and the pre-combustion cup. They were similar enough that many of the blocks were used for hp gas builds.

And then some. You could punch one out a ton (as in .120) and add a 425 crank (they used the BB mains vs the SB ones) and you could top out at ~440 CID in a small block. The only Olds blocks that were stronger were the race stuff that would be the equivalent of the Buick "stage" stuff.

The wing looks like it belongs in a kids playground, not on a car.

I guess exhaust tubing is better than PVC for a roll bar. Only $75.
