The build looks GREAT!!!!! 1 question tho , do you plan on getting that cage certed? I thought rear struts had to connect to frame rails. Will those down struts to the wheel tubs pass?

Well, really only got a small update. Wish I made more progress, but should get some time over the holidays as I have some vacation days to burn. Since the last update, I decided to really reenforce the lower control arm boxes. As you can see I tied the whole box together with some additional 1/8" steel pieces & bar. Also, welded the control arm bushing nut on the inside of the box since its obviously all closed in now.

Also made two purchases. Decided to run a 5 speed to make things a little simpler. Again, just a street car so low 10s (maybe high 9s if lucky) with a big mph would be good with me. Bought an MMR900 (modified TKO600) from a member on this board in excellent condition. Link with some specs and info: http://www.modularmustangracing.com/prod_trans_drive.htm Thanks chriscrna. Second, I bought FORD GT cams from fordsvtparts that I will run instead of the 03/04 cobra cams that come with the GT500 motors.

Lastly, I also bought a new toy. I had a small DC tig, to compliment my MIG, but could never do aluminum with DC. I bought this inexpensive 200A AC/DC Tig and 50A plasma cutter. I know its not a lincoln or miller, but since its only a hobby, and I couldn't afford a $3k+ unit. Anyway, plasma cutter would have come in handy about 6 months ago. Ohh well...

    Thanks,

    Michael

well, i recieved the welder and did some plasma cuttin', DC Tig'n with pulse, and AC attempts on aluminum. Really love the HF (high frequency start). So much better than scratch starting. Lots of variables to play with compared to my previous super simple unit. Was working great for a few days, but then went dead. Called ramsond. They had me ship it back. They sent me out a new unit. Got a UPS tracking number, but haven't recieved it yet. Was disappointed it malfunctioned. Heard that about these cheap units, but I was glad how their customer service responded thus far. Assuming the new unit works fine, I'll have no complaints.

i think i could make it work even with the cable operated clutch. i actually started a thread on modularfords looking for some info.

    http://www.modularfords.com/forums/showthread.php?t=96563

the question is, will it take the abuse of 1k HP.

i have to get an update out there, but slow going throughout all of december. i am researching an interesting approach to my front suspension so that has slowed me down a bit as well. i am considering some options to be able to run 315/30/18s up front. it means i would have to convert from strut to an independent front suspension. art morrison sells some kits meant for the 66-70 stangs called MII front suspensions. will likely go that way, but its another 2600 bones so just doing my homework before i drop the cash. also got to make sure i have room for the turbo headers on the big 5.4 with the new frame rails (couple inches closer together) if i convert to IFS.

    thanks for the interest guys.
