Decided I'd try and improve the chassis a little over the winter. All the rust and my lousy floorpan replacement a few years back made this thing all floppy. So I DIY'd some subframe connectors. Also scored an S&W cage kit on the cheap, I figure I'll put in 8 of the 10 points for now to make me legal to 10.00 until I get ambitious enough to pull the dash. So far I'm just mocking the cage up and slowly trimming it to fit. Figures I get it where I want it and it obstructs every single window crank. Oh well.

Also, I picked up a set of "business" wheels for it. Gotta say, it's way quicker when it can put the power to the ground and I'm not just burning the tires down. :)

I also made some progress on the intercooler tank. My wife got me a tig welder for Christmas and I've been learning how to work it. :)

Looks great! The subframe connectors by themselves will make a huge difference.

Wow, just went through the whole 9 pages....I love this car. Great build...and nice house by the way!!!

I'm surprised you choose an A2W instead of an A2A.

Thanks man! Everybody says they'll make a big difference, I'm certainly hoping so. It was sketchy to drive last fall. :)

Thanks man! My wife and I are wishing we would have bought bigger now, but oh well. Just gonna work on paying this one down and building my dream barn! :)

I debated A2W vs A2A for a while, and I initially chose A2W so I wouldn't have to chop up the front of my car, but then I threw that sentiment out the window when I hacked it to bits. If I was gonna do it again, I'd do A2A I think. But honestly, this setup wasn't that complicated either, and maybe it'll pay dividends in the heat of the summer when I have sub-ambient IAT's! :)

Got some rear down bars bent so I can keep the back seat. :) I have the back half of the cage all boogered in now, gonna pull the front seat back out to paint the floor, then put it back in and weld the door bars in. Fired it up tonight just to see how it'd do after 3 months in storage...fired right up! :)

Thanks! I've got a long way to go until this thing will pass tech. Battery cutoff switch, rear firewall, etc.

Thanks man! I tried to give her that and more, but she said a hug was plenty, haha. :)

It was super nice out today, so I got the car out and brought it by my shop to fix a few things up in the air. Also, had to do a quick burner for my coworker. I must have bumped the 2 step knob down, cause it didn't build any boost til I let go of the brake pedal.

Read it all. Quite the journey so far. I'm in the 7th year with my junk! It should roll this year!

Got the hoopty out and took it for a quick spin and actually shot a little bit of video! :)

I need to work on traction now. It's only on 4 psi and first gear is prettymuch useless on my 295 street tires. I've got a new wideband coming too, so I'll actually be able to work on the tune up a bit.
