Got some more work done this weekend. Pump mounted up, made sure it would clear the tank.

Didn't get that many pics. But I also removed all the old fuel lines, rails, injectors. Also modded the fuel pump harness for the new relay wiring, put the fuel pump block off plate, and put in the new fuel level sensor.

Just need to get a new filler neck grommet and start ordering fittings.

Here's some pics of the car. Drag trim, then street trim.

Got more done this weekend. Ran feed and return lines to the front of the car. Made a mount for my pressure regulator. I just ordered the last of my AN fittings last night and my new oil catch can. Still need to plumb in the pre filter ( missing fittings ) and the rails, regulator.

My custom cam should be here soon, so I can start wrenchin on that. And I need to start thinking about my battery relocate and batt cutoff.

Nice build man! Are you planing on street driving much? I ask because I was going to go with that same fuel pump but was told since the fuel does not run through the motor it can overheat and is not made for extended run times. I went with the 4303 pump but I think I have already maxed it out and might go ahead and get the one you have. I never drive far anyway since I can't find E85 much in town.

I read that also. I have the 4703 which is similiar. I have drove for 2 hours with no problems. I don't have a lot of continued street time though.

Looking good. Check my build or PM me and I can give you some ideas for the battery shut-off.

They say they are only good for 45 min at a time. But guys have been running them on the street no problem.

Good to know, I think I'll make the switch. Hell in 45 mins I'm already down half a tank of gas anyway lol. Can't go much further than that anyway.

So fuel system is finally complete. I can't believe how much money the lines and AN fittings were, I want to cry a little [IMG]#ad

Anyways, didn't get to the catch can yet. It won't take long at all to get it mounted and lines ran.

Here's the pics of the bracket I made, pretty spiffy if I do say so myself.

Got some more parts in. Took over a month to get my custom cam, specs are smaller than my current cam ( not by much ) with less duration on the intake, less lift on the exhaust, and a wider lobe separation ( more idle vaccum ). It should still have a healthy thump at idle, but net me better MPG's, drivability and fast spool up times.

Double roller chain is one of the best you can get, nitride gear sets, pre stretched chain, and special thrust bushing.

Out goes the gear drive, so I had to get a new timing cover since my old one was machined to accept the gear drive set up.

Whose cam did you go with? Is it a solid?

Pretty neat how you made those brackets for the fuel filters.

It's an FTI grind, still hydraulic roller.

I should be able to start this thing up N/A pretty soon. Got it fully torn down today and all the parts to put it back together.

I did find something a little funky, my lower intake oil spash shield (PCV) was falling off. So I just yanked the thing out since I have it blocked off. I bet that would have made a great sound floating around in the valley.

    Well fuck.

After removing my cam I found some odd markings on my #1 cam journal bearing. It measures 2.085, spec max is 2.081. Currently my clearance is .0005, which is .0003 over spec. So the damn short block is coming out and getting new bearings.

It's been together for 6 years with 6,000 miles. 3 of those years it was over fueled a bunch from nailing down a good tuning system. It may have washed the bearings a little. The #2 cam journal spec is perfect. So maybe my gear drive messed it up, excessive thrust play, or something else.

The cam itself is perfect, no score marks or barely any proof it's even been ran.

Either way, she's getting new rings and bearings. I'm going to be pushing this combo pretty hard and I want to make sure it's good to go.

    Here's a pic.

You know you have time. I am really hoping you get your kit before late summer. Sorry, not trying to discourage you. I really hope Brian will stay up with this. He did say he was going to get on here once a week but that is not happening.

If you need any help with anything feel free to PM me.

Well I got everything torn down.

Pulled the pan and it was spotless, so no shavings or gunk. Pickup screen was clean. I did not pull a rod or main bearing cap, machine shop is going to check everything out for me and save the bearings so I can check them out later.

I did find one concerning thing though. The left side head exhaust valves are white and the right are black, looks like for some reason the left side is running lean :/

    Any ideas why?

I did find some gunk build up in the coolant ports in the left side head. Not enough I would think to cause an issue.

I might make a new thread for the head issue.

Well guys. Dropped by the machine shop to check out the old bearings. They looked perfect, except for that ONE FUCKING CAM BEARING. So I just tossed about $800 on a refresh that wasnt needed at all. I pretty much just paid for peace of mine. But this way I got to refresh everything, lapped my valves last night and put in new viton.seals. Plus I ditched my cometic head gaskets for felpro 9333pt1's so I would have a fuse if something went wrong.

I never had an issue with them. But if I mess up the tune or something goes wrong, I'd rather pop a head gasket than put that stress into the block.

Got a decent amount done during the week.

Got my engine back, besides that one bearing everything looked good. But always a good thing when pushing this much power to refreshen. It had been about 8 years since the engine was built.

I cleaned my heads all up, lapped the valves and put in new viton valve seals. Put the studs back on the engine and torqued everything down.

Also welded in my turbo drain fittings in the pan. I wish I would have spaced them out a bit more, but I should be able to make them work.
