well, got a quick vid and some more driving. finally got all my exhaust leaks fixed. this is more of a teaser vid than anything else i guess, put my cell phone in my shirt pocket to record it. it was where a road merges into a highway, got like half throttle in 2nd, and then a guy pulled in from the left lane and cut me off so i had to clutch in and slow down. Did a full pull while datalogging and keeping my eyes glued to the wideband, stayed at 12.0, gonna richen it up til i hit 11.5. Blew the pcv valve out of the intake lol. I had it just sitting there plugged and then the valve cover vented to a catch can, guess I'll tee in the pcv valve and get a new grommet(mine has hardened and doesnt fit really tightly) so it shouldnt blow out again

oh lol, im almost too ashamed to say. I posted it in my tech thread, but I didnt here. I had put oil in the turbo and spun it to keep the bearings wet when it wasnt in use. I plugged both ends, but the drain plug I had was loose, so I put a second one inside the first to spread it out, well I was in a hurry and had been working late nights for a week when I put the drain flange on. I reached under the turbo, pulled one plug out, and bolted the drain flange up. It was just loose enough for some oil to get by when I took the drain line off and fool me into thinking it was something else. I took the turbo off thinking I was gonna need a CHRA and decided to inspect my ebay drain flange(holset drain to 10-an) thinking maybe the i.d. was too small, and I looked up inside and saw something red with the number 14, I poked it with a screw driver and it was kinda flexible, I had no clue what it was until I unbolted the drain flange. Felt like a complete idiot. Live and learn I guess. I also had to modify my exhaust, it was angled down and the bend would drag speed bumps and all, I cut it just past the hanger in the center, got a wedge from a scrap piece I had cut off and welded it on, maybe like a 15 degree angle, but it made the difference b/t dragging and not dragging lol

Okay, had my coworker ride with me and take a vid while i did some uh...datalogging. The red van ahead of me is my other coworker. The first one was just 2nd, i hit the rev limiter(not used to going through a gear so quickly)

Second vid lol, i started the pull and the car nosed over and fell on its face, you can hear my reaction"something blew off" my coworker looked at me and said huh? and i said "something bad happened" drove it to the shop, repositioned the coupler, everything seems fine now.

That wasn't me saying i smell it. That was the guy with me. But thanks lol. Got the car running at 11.2:1, 74% injector duty cycle. I ht the rev limiter while trying to look at my boost gauge, idk if im getting any creep, but ill make some more runs and bump the boost up a bit after that, i feel pretty comfortable with it now, not like uncontrollable or anything

I put the softer spring in the wastegate, i know its around 6 or 7 now, i plan on just going with the stiffer spring that came with the wastegate, which should be 8 or 9 psi. Its my daily driver, so i dot want to push it too hard, but i don't want to settle at 6 psi lol. I believe 9 is a good number. I've ridden in two dd supercharged mustangs running around 12 psi non intercooled, which i assume is about the same as my intercooled turbo setup on 9 psi

Lol, not sure but I plan on finding out. Anything below 85% is safe, abo ve that you are pushing it. I'm in florida for a week now, so I won't be making progress on my car.... plenty of time to dream lol

Been following this build very closely after I found out we have (essentially) the same turbo. I ended up with a 6 blade and will have either a 19 or 21cm exh housing. How is the spool for you? When do you start seeing boost and when do you get full spool? I'll be on a 4r70w and 3.73s. Great job man!! Looks like fun!

I start seeing boost at like 3200 rpm, full boost is instant. You can hear in my video, as soon as you hear the turbo, the wastegate kicks in. But its only 6 psi, and 8 blades spool quicker anyway. I saw your post andanswered a couple questions i think. I would definitely go with the 19cm if you can. If you have anymore questions feel free to ask, im glad to help. I had a lot of questions before my build.

Well, got home and have been driving around datalogging. Car started running kinda rough, so i checked it out. Burnt the spark plug wire on cyl 2 or 3, can't remember which right now. I was looking at something called the "sparkarm" by wrenchrat. Anyone ever heard of it? That one cylinder is super close to the header, others are fine. Anyone have any other solutions?

next step, gonna swap out the 3.73's for 3.27's more than likely. I burnt the plug boot off of the number 2 cylinder, ended up putting on a 90 degree boot instead of a 45, got a couple hundred miles on it now, mainly highway cruising. Getting about 17 mpg in town, going back and forth to school I cruise at 75mph, 2300rpm in 5th lol. That gets me about 18mpg, crusing around 60mph my datalogger says its about 20.5 mpg. Definitely looking forward to the gear swap.
