Finally some positive forward movement. A good buddy of mine ran across a good deal on a built motor from one of his friends. It has taken a Ranger into the high 10's with the same turbo I have. So, guess I'll have to figure out what to do with my shortblock that is almost finished. This one has:

JE pistons
Crower rods
Total Seal rings
Esslinger Alum Big Valve Head (unported)
A good size roller cam
Solid lifters

Also got a custom header and a much better downpipe.

Got some paint and clean up work to do and should be ready to drop in.

Very cool build. I have always wondered what one of these done right would be capable of. Was ahead of its time back in the day!

Good job on that intake. I've ported my own and that thing is a worked of art compared to what I did!

Did you use a flapwheel to finish it out?

 

Wish I could take credit but I had this done.

I am using it as a pattern. I have the upper really close and need a longer mandrel for the lower. Good idea with the flapper. Rolls are all you need for the upper.

 

Nice little project...very clean build. I remember taking a ride in a built SVO some years ago that was making about 350 rwhp with 30 psi. They handle much better than their 5.0L counterparts without that V8 over the nose.

 

That's one 4 banger I would be Proud to rock!!
