Same here, I picked up a 75mm with the 83mm 1.10, and then found a great deal on a 80mm 1.10, so I had to have that too(both T6 though).

SFI approved $60 flywheel came in. As well as a few 4" exhaust pieces.

Finished up the WG and started the DP.

Made a little progress this weekend'¦

After finding the V-band assys for the s400 turbo outlets were $85 I decided to shave down the flange. After some serious time on the bench grinder and 20 minutes with a file it came out ok. Used a. 3.5' to 3' 'hump' coupling. Fits really snug.

Intercooler is mounted and piping is about 80% complete. Waiting on the 90* TB coupler to finish up the piping. Still need to weld beads on all the ends and mount the BOV. IC is a 32x12x4. 3' inlet/outlet. Cheap bar and plate ebay junk. Was $116 shipped.

Trimmed the Taurus E-fan down. Fits like it was meant for this radiator. I'll glass the top and bottom before final install. The crank pulley has been pulled and is just pushed on the crank by hand at the moment. Looks like I'll have about a ½' clearance between the crank and the fan once it's pressed on.

Some better pics of the above progress'¦ (Although I like the low res cell pics, they make the welds look better)

    Hotside

Had a good run for a few inches on this weld. This is the typically what happens with every weld I do. Not sure what the deal is. I'm using a Hobart 140a 120v MIG. It has 4 heat settings. If I run it on the '2' setting it doesn't penetrate well and end up with bubblegum welds. Setting 3 tends to blow holes in the 16g pipe. It's a constant battle with this thing. Sure wish it had a nice variable heat dial! I used .024 wire with 75/25 on these. Seems to weld the best so far. I'm using a 50' jumper cable added to the ground on the #3 setting and it does help. Still a little on the hot side though. Any tips/tricks always appreciated.

were is your wire speed at? i have the same welder and wire size and for that i use heat on 3 and wire at about 40-45 and move fairly quick

Right at 40 on the #3 setting. Welds look strong and have good penetration. Just wish I could get a constant puddle with a little less heat to make the stacked nickles look. I used a friends old 220v lincoln with a variable heat dial and was able to get a great looking weld. I really think it's a lack of adjustment, and possibly just using it enough to work around the problem.

Idc bout the stacked nickels, I usually just lay a nice smooth bead and move in to the next one

i run .35 wire and do alot of welding on 3-4 heat and 30-45 like jace says.

nice strong puddle most of the time and i dont do any prep work unless the metal is so dirty or painted i cant ground lol

Got the E-fan glassed in. Still need to sand/paint and add mounts.

Test fit it all. Charge piping is all mocked up and in place. Waiting on BOV flange to weld it in.

Yea I was surprised how little room there is compared to an FC Rx-7 Chassis. This chassis is around 600lbs lighter, but with the retarded amount of power people are squeezing from these cheap LS motors I almost wish I would have went with another FC. Looks at all this space!

I bet that you would have better luck with .030" wire on that machine. A plus might be, the .024" often wanders as it leaves the tip, and makes it tough to keep the toes [outer edges] of the weld even.

Welded beads on all the piping. Welded the 50mm BOV flange on. I was a little nervous about hood clearance by the throttle body. Cut the webbing out of the hood (6lbs worth!) and test fit it. Fits great. I have springs under the rear pins, but it sits nice and flush when pinned.

Still need to figure out some sort of head light. The flip up lights are welded closed and glassed over. the IC piping is routed under them as well so I can't replace them. Was thinking of bumper mount or something similar to this on top. May be to "tunerish"for the old school rx-7 though. Ideas?

I like the inset ones much better too. But like you said I don't have the room. The fog eye deals are all on top, so I could run them.

I know you have moved on from the welder issue, but I have 2 cents. Go to lowes and get a Lincoln 40 mig welder. 500 bucks if you have it. Once you are finished, take it back. 90 day no questions asked return policy. I was using a Harbor Freight $80 flux core at first and the smoothness of the Lincoln was night and day. Started to get the hang of it towards the end, no stacked coins as I was trying for a different look. Stacked coins only really works for me on thicker material it seems like. I was welding in an apartment parking lot, so wind was a small issue.

And when companies have tough return policies on a product which has REAL issues, remember these types of action lead to tougher policies.

Sorry, as a business owner, this shit pisses me off! It is theft from people trying to be nice.
