You could also try a normally closed Hobb switch, and have it open the 12V feed to your ignition or some thing along those lines.
I would call Len and ask him, he's a real straightforward guy, and smart. He'll give you the lowdown, and it wouldn't surprise me if he's tried...
Only problem with this is that the box provides a ground signal on the brown/white, and the pink needs 12V to activate the retard.
