lol, I have a large turbo off a track hoe, Garrett, intake AR is 60 exhaust is either 94 or 194....
other numbers are 23518588 which looks like a serial number
below that is : AEL 08646

    i have a stout 350 pushing maybe 430 HP shifting at 6250

or a 454 not yet built...will this work on either?
maybe a remote turbo for the 350.....I don't care if it take until 1/2 way through second to spool up b/c it's in an s10 and I can't stop spinning until just short of half way through second gear...maybe 65 mph?? or so..it looks really big pics below:

hey I got 3 of those out in the shop!
    that's the precusor to thegt4294
    TMF 5101. 70mm inducer 94 exducer.
good little turbo but not being able to clock the turbine side (except 90 degrees) sucks.
they're good for 650 maybe 700 hp. They like to be in the 12-15# range.

wow, thanks for the reply!! I don't know if that little 350 will hold that much power, maybe this is better suited for the 454?

Couldn't you clock it to where you need it to be, then drill and tap the turbine housing as needed? I've done this a couple times on gt37's with success.

dunno if you could the easy solution is to find TV5101 cores and transfer the parts. Almost everything will transfer, That's how I make 75mm tv5101's with smaller a/r turbines. There are like 9 models that will change parts. All the way up to the current GT42 series. I have heard of buy putting GT45 wheels in them too

as far as clocking it is prefect for my layout.....so no worries there.

but I'm new to all this. from what I understand....

if i have a target of 600 hp then my mass flow rate is approx 60 lb/min

and I have a target boost pressure of 8 lbs with an absolute pressure of 14 psi with a 1 psi drop through my air filter I get

    1.69 pressure ratio

    correct so far?

and this is my compressor map....

    http://www.turbobygarrett.com/turbo...argers/gt42_images/GT4294_731376_1_comp_e.gif

then I am at the border line of absolute choke...and this massive turbo is too small for a 350 trying to make 600 Hp even though that page says the turbo is good for 5-800 hp (target:600hp) and 2-8 liter engines (current 5.7l)

Or am I missing / mis-calculating something here? from what I see I need to push 700 hp at 35 lbs to really make this turbo work.....

8 psi will mean you have a 375-400hp motor already.
14.7 is base pressure+ the 8 # you want=22.7-1 for the filter you get 21.7 call it 22. now divide that by 14.7 and you get 1.50 pressure ratio now the turbo you have isn't the GT42. Like it yes. That map is different. your's tops out at 74 pounds It's not that the motor is too small it's the turbo. It's telling you your already moving enough air NA, the turbo will work. It's not going to be running as effiecintly as it wants to but atleast your not surging the hell out of it. If you go get the larger wheel, backing plate and cover for a 104mm exducer 75mm inducer you'll be fine. That map's alot larger and fits your needs better. But I think your fine with what you just not optimal. 70mm is what I run on 331 street fords.
or do the easy thing and run 2 :D

Ok, well. that's kinda what I thought.

So if i had a small ci engine that could handle the boost i could push it to 800 hp, but on this large ci motor i loose possible boost at the same Hp level and hance is too small to run 600 hp....strange.

is there a physically smaller turbo out there that will hit 600 Hp for me?

Ok, lol I never listen. after buying some cheap knock offs and having good luck I'm ready to try a turbo....

this one says 700-1000 hp... i just want 600 ... too big or being a knock off is it a lie and it's more like a 500-700 hp turbo?

or maybe one of these, they claim t70 but the inducer size is quoted at 52 mm / they claim 600 hp capable...

I'm not sure what my motor is making in my s10 but i raced my friends 2002 camaro and he has an ls6 with a cam and it dynoed 415 hp at the rear wheels...he did not get me by much and i had terrible traction problems....I can't imagine it making 500 hp, it's a dishtop 350 with a decent port job on a set of vortec heads flowing 250 cfm or so and a 230@050 cam with 286 advertised duration...

will either of the above turbos work, I'm really on a tight budget and having that monster sitting there is another option....
i would be OK with 550 Hp.....actually prefer it. and i'd like to run about 7-8 pounds to get it maybe even 11 if need be. I have everything else to do this already (piping, hat, intercooler, BOV, 50 mm wastegate friend that owns an exhaust shop)

If you Search - Ebay Turbo - you will see a thread about 14 or so pages long talking about them. pretty decent read actually, and might be able to steer ya in the right direction.
