I have no ignition parts but a 3 step retard box. Its a sbc with a garrett 81mm single, 20 psi tops. Now, can I run a 6al with my retard box to pull timing on the top end and be safe? I think the box originally came with my nos system, will it still work? I just don't wanna buy a box TWICE! Is a digi 6 gonna pull timing for me on the top end? If not I don't see how the 6al will without an additional unit? I kno this has been said, but I DID use the search button and did not find my answer. Thanks Guys.

I just don't wanna rig up a 6al and go for the first ride and punch it and melt my pistons bc it didn't pull timing out. Or is that not needed?

 

This is the one I'd use, I plan on ditching my MSD BTM as soon as my tax return comes in.

Look in to the Programmable 6AL-2- perfect for a street driven blow-thru. Has a map sensor that pulls timing based on boost as well as a step retard and two step limiter. Think it runs like $410.00. Uses the same Pro-data software as the Digital 7 series.

The 6530 has 3 rev limits, a launch retard, another retard and tables for retard by rpm and manifold absolute pressure. I have had one for a while and love it. Map sensor sold seperately.
