Boost will not matter. Your stock block is on Borrowed time if over 450 HP or 6500 RPMs
Ford will not even sell a SB crate engine without the BOSS block if it is 450 HP or more

I wouldn't expect it to live long w/ a stock block. There's some blocks that make crazy #'s and a lot spatter trying to survive.

yea ive herd its hit or miss with the stock blocks some hold the power and some dont, but i always thought around 700 is when the block gives not 450??

Age of engine, RPM you rev to, amount of detonation, and amount of cylinder pressure will all play a role in how long it'll live.

Most say 450-550 rwhp with a stock block. Don't expect to get 550 rwhp, and I think most of the 450 rwhp claims are with a supercharger (which robs some of the power the engine makes). Either way you're on borrowed time with higher hp, we just can't tell you how long.

Then again most turbo cars don't run anyways so you might get 10 years out of it at 500 miles. :D

Lots of factors play into it, boost, tune, timing , balance and your right foot.

I'm at 474 at the wheels with 14% slipage at the clutch ( so it's over 500 at the flywheel ), and mine has lived 2 yrs so far.. I dont rev past 5700.. But it really depends on several factors, and I'm sure a lot of it is luck.

Maybe he said it and I missed it, but what kinda motor are you talking about? A 351w? A 302? etc. Your name says turbo coupe so... that motor? Some lucky people have made like 700hp crank on a bone stock 351w bottom end. They were only turnin it to like 4800 or somethin. Some 302's have factory forged pistons and can go probably to a max of like 500whp some people get lucky and some break with 300hp so...

anything over 500rwhp using a stock shortblock you almost have to expect some kind of internal catastophic failure regaurdless of rpm. although I know a local friend that decided to try out a Bessel valley girlde using a stock block and the kind of power he was able to make was speachless. his set-up consists of long rod 323c.i. SBF w/ a stock e7 302 block, scat 4340 crank, aluminum rods & venolia pistons) and he was able to make over 750rwhp with a single turbo.

Unless you are talking about a 385 series BBF. Therre are lots of them well over 700 HP on stock crank, forged rods and pistons.

for a 302, most people say 450hp is the max safe limit, for a 351, they sau around 700, later roller blocks are like 600's, and mexican 302 blocks are supposedly around 500-550. This is all gathered from years of trolling different forums, so idk how accurate most of it is, and some people have those freak blocks that hold twice as much as everyone else, its basically a crap shoot. Keep it where you feel safe, if it blows, at least you tried
