While on the trans brake my cx racing aa 31x12x3 is heat soaking and hitting temps of 170 at the end of 1/8th mile. Looking at the cx racing 24x18x4 core Huge sob or the treadstone 10.5x22x4.5 core. Anyone have input? Or data you could share?

Go with a vertical tank flow design if possible, pressure drop is usually much better. And get us some pre/post IC pressure drop data B4 upgrading! Those temps seem pretty high, I'd guess the turbo was out of steam? I'd see those kind of temps at the end of the 1/4 around 24lbs with a 5.3/s475.

You really think the turbo is to small? It's a s366 on 260ci or 4.25l.

Can't imagine it would be. Those temps just seemed really high and that’s usually the cause. What kind of boost pressure?

Boost psi is only 18-19psi. I think I may have another issue going on. My intake temps were 114* starting out idling. Hit 172 end of 1/8th mile. Looking back the temp was only 80* outside.

Mine are usually around there starting out too. I think the treadstone unit is the way to go if you don’t buy a “real” IC. Treadstone with a little water/meth injection on top works really well with minimal pressure drop. A custom Garrett core is the bee’s knees! They have like 3x the fin density of a Treadstone.
