I'm replacing a few parts and if I am to make a cam change, this is the time.

I've narrowed it down to either FR500 cams or Ford GT cams. I know that custom grinds are probably my best bet, but I really don't have the coin to spend right now.

Anyone have any expeirence with either???

I have install a 3 or 5 sets on customer car.
I have seen a pick up of 5hp to 10 hp, for $400 bucks is not worth it.
We have a few car making over 1100rwhp with stock OEM cams.
One car is a 99 cobra a few others are 03/ 04 cobras with Hellion kits and we have a 98 cobra making over 1200rwhp threw a glide with stock cams..
    SAVE YOUR MONEY.!
    Cams are overrated.
    Keep you stokers.. :2thumbs:

    Thanks for the input.

Assuming you could have your choice of stock cams (I've got a few different sets lying around), what would be your choice and why??

    Thanks again.......

    OEM 4 valve cams
The GT cams have more lift but less duration cause The Ford GT have bigger valves.
The 99/01 & 03/04 exhaust cams are the same.
The 99/01 cam intake cam have a little more duration.
I use 03/04 cams on my combo.

I totally agree with 99TTGT. Some people have reported some gains (like 35rwhp), some less like 99TTGT, some have tested them and lost power. But when you see these cars making 1100+rwhp with '96-'04 Cobra cams, it's hardly worth the 450 bucks (with the washers and bolts).

Can you share with us the cam specs of the 96/98 cobra cams?

With the slight variations of the '96-'98 vs. the '99/'01's, vs. the '03/'04's, vs. the Ford GT's, I don't think there is much power difference no matter which stocker you use. It more depends on the heads and tune from what I've seen. So whatever ones you happen to have will work great. Heck I recently saw an '01 make 1105rwhp through an auto with 30 PSI with the stock cams. Then there's Buster making over 1000rwhp with a completely stock '03 long block. Crazy.

Assuming that I go with a set of 03-04 cams, will they be the limiting factor if I decide to spin it to 7000-7200??

I've got ported heads and a Naz intake on the way.

Do you happen to have a dyno graph? I'd be curious to see the powerband in the upper RPM's.
    Thanks.

    On your stage 3 cam's
You have to fly cut the pistons how many thousands?
Is that with 1mm over size valves or stock OEM valves?
    What they run?
    ------------------------------------------------------------
    Your stage 3 ported heads
do you sell them out right <no core>?
    Are they 03 4 tread or 04 8 tread ?
do they use over size valves or OEM size valves?
    cnc or hand ported?
    what they run?
    --------------------------------------------------------------
    thanks
