I'm considering remote turboing my 95 f150. I recently swapped from a 302 to a 351w and I still want more power. This will be a budget build, so I was thinking about a gt45, but I hear they're pretty heavy. Would something like a t70 or s366 be a better choice? I'm only planning on running 7-8 psi, and occasionally turning it up to 10psi. Engine is pretty mild, 351w, gt40p heads, edelbrock performer truck manifold, long tube headers, comp xe264hr-14 cam. Any turbo suggestions are appreciated.

Single S366 on my completely stock Lightning 351w. 12psi, making about 465hp atm.

MaverickDan: My 300-6 lights the china gt45 @3800 rpm with a 2.5" exhaust pipe. 1.45:1 back pressure ratio @ 20 psi boost. It's inches from the rear bumper for traction. Dual 2" pipes from a Windsor into the gt45 would be a sweet setup. Mild 351w's are spooling the gt45 around 3200.

Briansshop: Sweeet truck! I have been looking at an s366 with it's efficiency to lower back pressure more, vs bigger t6 older turbo. Do you have any back pressure data on the s366 with the Windsor? What rpm does it spool?

Anyone have any thoughts on the 76/65 vs the gt45. I'm kind of between these 2 in terms of cost, which of these 2 would spool faster? I would also assume the 76/65 is lighter/smaller?

64-65mm turbine exducer is good for street setups in the 302 cubic inch range. Would spool very fast (full boost at 2500) but have pretty serious back pressure by 4500. The gt45 is great for a 351w especially with your heads and is proven to 600+hp. The gt45 intake air temps are much better than other p-trim(64mm exducer) ebay turbos. If you Y'ed into a single 2.5"-2.75" pipe to the gt45, you could partially block the down pipe side scroll to enhance spool for now, and uncork it later when you get bit by the boost bug.

73-77mm exhaust exducer is a good starting spot for a street 351w.

If can swing an s366, that would be the best of the 3 turbo choices with your current combo.

I ordered an s366 tonight, my next question is I have a 38mm wastegate that I had on another project, will it be enough to maintain low boost? Or will I need something bigger?

I would say bigger. Maybe p.m. Briansshop and see what he's running.

Thanks for the replies. Got the turbo, and fuel pump in today. Hopefully next weekend I'll have time to wire megasquirt in parallel so Ill still have a functional transmission. Guess I'll make a build thread on here as well.
