Quickest times on 17" Drag Radials?

    Quickest times on 17" Drag Radials?

    What is the quickest times anyone has been on 17" drag radials?

    Are 9's possible?

    10's are definitely doable. I went 6.89 in the 1/8th which is a 10.7 in the 1/4 on a ill prepared track with terrible traction.

    I would like to run a 9.9x with them but don't know if it is possible with the shorter sidewall tires...

    I'd say 9's would be do able. I've went 7.90's in the 1/8th on 275 40 dr's with a 6 speed in a car thats not even close to being set up for drag racing.

    I've seen people go low 10's in supras on 18" drag radials, so why not on the 17" comp TA's? I have heard that the G-force drag radials use a bit softer compound and sidewall though, so who knows.

    Big Daddy went 9.7's on 17" BFG's years ago...so it is "possible".

    Any idea what suspension setup he had?

    Do the same suspension mods for slicks work for DR cars?

    I went 11.60's on 275-40-17's, didn't even let pressure out of the tires, ran them at full 29 psi. don't ask why...

    If my memory is working I believe he had Eibach front drag springs with 90/10's, FMS HD uppers with maybe wolfe lowers and a wolfe single sway bar. I'm sure it's easier with a glide compared to an AOD due to the gearing.

    I'm not a suspension guru but i'd think the parts would be the same with DR's and slicks, but you'd just adjust them differently...maybe go looser on the shock settings and change the IC location.

    I went 9.81 way back when, too. We were creeping it out of the hole. Once they hooked up, everything was ok. But they wouldn't take near the launch that the 325x50's or 275x60s would.

    I believe that Novi357 is his name, has a blown 408 in a coupe goes LOW 10s on 17in Et streets at 135+

    Yes, im aware this thread is really old... but obviously alot more people have made hits in the past few years, and kept up to date on how fast all these WICKED DR cars are...

    How fast have people gone on a 17" radial now?

    How fast has a 35 series DR 60 footed?


    My car should easily 60 foot in the 40's next year off a transbrake, and im just not sure the short sidewall will hook it consistently...
