    my uncle is ditching the bds 8-71 and nitrous and goin to a 588bbc turbo set-up. we will be buyin the c & s carb and intercooling before it. we're looking to run the boat at 12lbs on pump gas, 20-30psi on race gas. what turbos will get the job done here and not break the bank doin it? i see some super gt45's floating around at 400.00 each, are they worth a damn?

    the motor is goin in hass828's old tx20, my uncle owns it now and we're good friends with hass, he gave us the turbo bug :ahah: :doh: :D

    what does the .83 mean? will these be doggish at 1.32? as soon as you step in the throttle hard on a jetboat, the rpms are at 6k;

    This is TwinTurbo540 off of performance boats here, :). You will need the 1.32 ar T6 housings on a 588!! Gordon ran a pair of borg warner s480's with 1.32's on his 509 and made 2100 on 26psi........That 588 will make 1100hp on probly 8 psi easy!! I have a pair of the S475's on my 540 with the 1.10 T6 housings, have yet to run them but should make 1,000 + on 12 psi on pump gas with the air to water cooler. I may step up to the s480's with the race cover if the S475's end up being to small for me.

    A pair of S475's are good for about 1500 hp in a twin configuration I believe, Robert would know best and is a great guy to deal with. To see 25 psi on that 588 you will nedd atleast a pair of 88's. Personally I would put a pair of gt47-88's on it and let it eat!!!

    588 and 12 psi is fine for little turbos.

    If you are really wanting 20-30psi on 588 you are going to need larger turbos than GT45 or a lot more of them.
    If your pump and impeller will allow good rpm (6k) don't worry about being spool. A pair of 80mm+ at min for turbos.
    If not a pair of 91mm's.

    so do you guys think if we thru a new pair of s480's on it, we'll be good to go? we'll give each individual turbo its own 1000hp intercooler before dumping into the c & s carb.

    ok, so now i've got the turbos lined out, wastegates found, intercoolers found, now what c & s carb is gonna get the job done up to 30psi of boost? is the c &s 900cfm 1200.00 buck carb good?

    Now a 598.....Damn!! A pair of 80's will work for 12 to maybe 18 psi but that thing really needs 88's or 91's to make it happy. Call C&S and talk with Roger or Heath, A 900cfm aerorsol carb with dual needle and seat bowls may work but I am sure they will point you twards one of their dominator blow thru's and that cube and hp level.

    my uncle is 55 and he told me this will be the last big hp motor he builds in his life, so we're gonna do it up :2thumbs: if we can get 1700-1800hp outta the s480's, he'll be happy. we need this thing to have nice driveability for cruising too, so don't wanna go so big with the turbos that we can't turn it down.

    he's selling the fairly new bds show polished 8-71, dual fresh 1050's dominator(match set), 225-400hp nitrous dual plate kit that is new as well. yall hear of anyone lookin , holla. he wants 4500.00 obo for it all. the rotors are flawless on the blower, its a nice piece and makes big hp.

    Mike runs a pair of gt47-88's on his 540 in his texas tunnel and can get it down to 8 psi :2thumbs:, I hope you have a pair fo 60mm waste gates, no smaller.

    I sent you a pm about your boat on performance boats a few days ago, did you get it? I am looking for some interior shots, dash, pump pic's, etc... I am very interested in it without the engine.

    Thanks

    Travis

    for what it'd cost to ship etc it wouldn't be worth your money brother. its a nice hull, the pump is bulletproof now but i think you could find something cheaper closer , in just as good as shape as mine.i've got soo much in the pump now i'd have to have 6k for the boat less the motor set-up, and by the time it got to you, it'd be 8500-8700 into it. i'll still send ya some pics if ya want though.

    here's the wastegates we're goin with for starters:
