Thoughts on my build?? 5.3 china gt45 single turbo 36' Pontiac

    Hello all: I have a brand new stock 2002 5.3ls motor and I installed a china GT45 turbo with a Air to water intercooler,80lb injectors and 1218 PAC valve springs, 50mm wastegate 50mm BOV, 862 heads, 2 bar MAP sensor, Right now it has made 10lbs of boost but I think I want to kick it up to 15lbs with the intercooler. GT45Aftermarket Turbo Replacement
    Compressor:
    Trim: 69
    A/R: .66
    Inducer: 68.7
    Exducer: 97.8
    Turbine:
    Trim: 92
    A/R: 1.05
    Inducer: 87.4
    Exducer: 77
    Turbo Flange T4
    Downpipe 3.5" V-band Flange
    Intake 3.75" Inlet, 2.25" Outlet

    What all do you think this set up will put out to the rear wheels. It has a 5 speed standard trans and all C4 vette suspension with 275/35/18 tires in the rear. Very tall gearing though. 160mph in 4th gear.

    Slick setup!

    GT45’s usually tap out around 650whp on auto trans LS stuff from what I’ve seen. Defiantly more in it, should do 15lbs no problem. I’d guess 18-20 it would start to peter out.

    Very cool thanks for the info. I hope to hit the dyno again soon and get a better tune with closer fuel curve and timing curve. Hope the trans holds up.

    I added a air to water intercooler to help with heat soak problems and keep HP the same as the motor gets hot. Here are some pics.

    Dyno numbers only 10 lbs of boost and 91 oct. 418 hp and 421tq. bone stock 5.3 with 630cc injectors and 1218 valve springs. 68mm turbo. 5 speed standard trans.

    Does anyone know what a stock clutch will take?? nv3500 trans.


    also thinking of going to 14 psi boost??

    My buddy has a 5.3 gt45 z06 cam making 406 to the tire at 8lbs through a 4l60e w 4.10 gears. I would stick a better cam in that thing, probably pick up 50 hp or better at the same boost.

    Love the set up tho.

    I just changed the wastegate spring to a 14 psi one I will see how that works.

    Wow what a difference... Before it was pretty good but now it is a bit of a shocker. My tune is good for 15psi because I only have a 2 bar map sensor. I will run this pressure for a while and see how it goes. This boost sh*t is addictive.. More More...

    Watch those plugs and sneak up on timing on pump gas at those levels... Things get really fun with a 4 bar sensor! ;)

    I hate to say it but I think I am good with where I am at with it as it is.. I do not have any heavy duty parts behind the motor to keep things together with much more power. Stock clutch, Light duty 5 speed trans and a dana 36 independent rear end. It is just a matter of time till one or all of them let go.

    I took it to the Goodguy's Auto cross here in AZ a few weeks back. Needless too say many people were shocked at how well it handeled and how fast it was. Rusty looking car going fast.
