Hey Guys, I'm about to start ordering parts for my Malibu. I'm using your sugggestions and am going with a T 70 turbo. My question is which one do I purchase from Ebay? There is so many listed. How do I copy the links to show examples? Is there comparible pricing ($300- $500) from site sponsors?

I'll be using a stock 5.3 LSX engine with all the accesories and a 4l60E. Goal is 400- 450 RWHP

    Thanks Guys.

An MP 70, import turbo (which isn't 70mm) is not compairable to a modern large domestic turbo.
But that is why there is a price difference. Just being honest....

Bang for the buck is the S400 75mm 1.32ar Borg Warner/Bullseye Turbo.
Smaller hot side are available but at an addition cost.

For that size motor and HP level, a good size 66mm will do the job easily. Anything larger will just be added lag. PTE-66, TC66, Garrett 66....though they are a little higher cost, its well worth matching it right the first time.

Yep, I'm looking for quick responce and I don't have plans to up the power in the future. This will be a daily driver, something I don't want a cage in.
    Pleasekeep the opinions coming.
Some of the ebay turbos specify T3 flange.

T-3 is too small you need atleast a T-4.

I would almost say everyone will tell you don't bother with E-bay.

When you are typing look up above the box and click on the world.

I suggest getting with Robert1320 or Dave@majestic for a properly matched Turbo for your goals, combo, and needs. They will offer support and real world knowledge. Ebay turbo's are scary.. cheap.. and may work but I am very leary of them. at a minimum if you go the eBay route you need to completely disassemble them, clean out metal shavings, check for damage and tolerance problems before using them.

This is a budget build so I have to watch the prices. What A/r do I need? .6, .96, 1.06 ???

out of those 3 choices I would think the .96 would be the way to go. the 1.06 would be a little bigger and would be able to support a hp range around 800 and up. the .6 is tiny, they use a .63 (if im not mistaken) on the ford 2.3L motor. So as I said if you only had those 3 to choose from I would go with the .96.

Would this Holset support my needs?

    I see you have a 425 WHP goal- you'll do that with just 6psi on a stock 5.3 :)

When people here talk about a T70, they are usually not talking about any eBay turbo- they are talking about a Master Power T70. Although there is a vendor on eBay that sells MP turbos, most "super T70" turbos are cheaply made. Some people (like myself) have had good results using them, but many fail early. The Super T70 is actually just a 61mm turbo whereas the MP T70 has a 70mm inducer. There are some guys at PT(.net) that have have had good results with the .96 housing on 5.3's, but the engine is in a heavy truck that likes low end torque. I personally would go with an S400- the 5.3 flows enough to make it streetable.

Also, that Holset linked will be too small for your car. It will likely make your 425hp goal, but your power will be really low in the power band and be lacking on the top end. So you will be able to roast the tires like no tomorrow even if you dont want to, but the car wont be pulling hard in the upper RPMs. I run a turbo on my Explorer that many say is too small, but they dont take into the account that my truck weighs 4500lbs and the rev limiter is set at ~5300.

425 RWHP is probably a little over 500 at the flywheel. You think 6psi will do it?

    I know 6psi (with a 67mm turbo) puts a bone stock 4.8 at 400whp through a 4L60e.

Stay away from those turbos. You can get a new Master Power T70 from a site sponsor for about $550.

Pretty much. Some have gotten lucky, but lots of them go out-- then you are stuck with a turbo that cant be rebuilt.

The "cheapest" brand turbo you should even consider is a Master Power unit. Or you can step up to an S400 unit for a little more.

dude, order a master power T70 with .68 housing. since your power goals are quite conservative it will spool fast, is low cost and guys have gone low 9's with them. no use trying to fit a huge T6 turbo under the hood that will need supports to hold it up. it's really not that hard
