    hi guys,

Supposed to be from a 2007 5.4 Lincoln navigator, is this a 3v motor?

    Yes. The 2007 Navigator used the same engine as the F-series/Expedition. 5.4 3V 300hp @5000 & 365 lb-ft @ 3750.

I have that engine in my F150. Been a great engine. Few little quirks, but overall great. Ditch the 2 piece sparkplugs and run 5W30 instead of the spec 5W20. Watch for the exhaust manifold issue and go.

Are those the engines that the cam phasers go out and take the whole motor with it? VVT delete!

Never heard of a catastrophic failure due to the cam phasers but they do screw up. Could always install cam phaser lockouts. Gotta change the tune though.

My brother in-law hard one that ate itself. I think it was an 2004 5.4? But I could be wrong with the year.

IIRC 05 was the first year of the 3v the first year of the new body style in the trucks.

As far as the 3V phaser issue is concerned, the issue is the crap oil spec they recommend. The spec oil for North American 5.4 3V engines is 5W20. Mine was making the early tick tick tick. I said screw the spec and started running 5W30. Not a big change on the oil side but the noise completely went away. 138,000 and runs like a fine sewing machine. Makes no noise it shouldn't.

I've read that the oil spec for the 5.4 3V for the rest of the world is 5W30. And ALL the 5.4 3V's that Ford ever made came out of the same production plant in North America.
