It's in refrenece to the ford motorsport alphabet cams. Why did they choose b-303, e-303, f-303, etc rather than just a, b , f, etc cam? ie) why the 303? Is there some sort of signifigance to the 303?

Standard Ford Parts system naming convention.

    M-6250-B303, M-6250-E303 etc.

Most parts from them are this way to some effect. For instance, the first half of the part # will tell what the part is, then what it fits, and then the specifics regarding the individual part.

I think they used 303 because they had used 302 on the non roller early cam profile.

    M-6250-B303

    M- Motorsport (Prefix)

6250-Ford basic number for cam (base # or basic)

    B303- (Suffix) grind profile

Here's a non Motorsport number for comparison.

    FOAZ-9H307-A

    FO- 1990
    A- Crown Vic
    Z- Ford

9H307- basic for a intank fuel pump w/ sending unit

    A- 1st run in series
