So I got a precision cea billet 7675 for next to nothing. I tried putting it on earlier in the season with poor results. But it was on a tune for a 6765. So the timing was pulled early. It seemed super lazy. Anyone have any experience with something similar? Should I bother trying it again with a tune for that turbo? Or just sell it and get something a little smaller? Like a 68mm turbine. Any suggestions would be great. Just looking for insight on what kind of timing you guys would run till it spools. Oh yeah it has trickflow 170's, afm b31 cam,pa c4 w/cheapo 3500 stall (goes to 4200 on brake at 14psi) 3.27 gears

it will work on that motor. My co worker made 996 to the tires with a 7675 on a stock bottom end 5.3

How laggy was it though? That was my problem. It didn't come on till 4500rpm. It felt real lazy. Not sure the difference between 5.0 pushrod vs 5.3

You say it didn't spool until 4500 but you also say it made 14psi at 4200 on the brake...

The answer to your question is pretty subjective. It'll depend on both the specifics of the car and your personal tolerance for lag. So nobody can really make that call but you. Get the tune and the converter squared away and then see how you feel about it.

Sorry,I meant it made 14psi and went to 4200 on the brake with a 6765. Swapped it for the 7675 and felt extremely lazy. I was just looking for someone with a very similar combo to give a little insight. I don't want to waste $500 on a tune. And then turn around and sell the turbo for something smaller cause it was too laggy for the street

My tolerance is about 3500 to 3700rpm full spool. Anything more than that and it will be to lazy for my taste.

I usually hear the 302 crowd running anywhere from a 60 to a 70. I would think it's a little too big if your now looking for a lot of power. But then again, if you have a small exhaust housing, it's will spool faster. Just be warned, too small of an exhaust housing will create lots of pressure in the exhaust manifold which leads to excessive heat and head gasket issues.

Look at a graph for that turbo to help see where the efficiency will be. I bet it'll be pretty low.

Yeah I think the 6765 that's on there is way to small. Its not stamped on the housing but it looks like a .68 so I think the turbine wheel combined with the housing is creating a lot of back pressure. The 7675 I have has a .81 housing on it. I was looking for a 7168 or 7175 when I came across the 7675 for real cheap. Can I use any brand exhaust housing for a 65mm turbine? Its a boost brothers kit. With there relentless brand turbo. Maybe I should just look for a .96 housing and save the 7675 for when I build a 331

Update...... threw the 7675 and with a little tuning it works just fine on a stock bottom end. Spool is obviously a little slower than the 6765 but when it does spool it pulls like a raped ape. I get full spool around 3700

Misssed the thread but it big for your setup but can work of course. A swap to a .96ar turbine housing on the 6765 would have been a better fit. There are guys making 700rwhp+ with the billet 6765 on 4.5-5.0L. I personally made 655rwhp with my old single setup and a 6765 at 16psi. I had full boost around 2500 rpms on the street.
