Last weekend my 98 mm precision turbo started leaking oil out of the turbine side. Instead of sending to precision a haveing them rebuild because the guy there said they will not sell me a rebuilding kit. Is there a alternative?

 

Do you know what year the unit is? how old it is? Journal bearing or Ball bearing?

 

It's a journal bearing and it's approximately 10 years old maybe 8. It's a PT 98

If its that old and journal bearing good chance its base on Garrett components. I would have to see though. Those PTE units from back in the day had some weird stuff done to them.. It takes half a GT55 journal bearing kit, and half a UTV kit

 

When I get home I could probably pull it apart and measure the shaft diameter like what are the dimensions of those two different turbos

 

take it apart and put up some pics too. PTE like turning the shaft on those and using a spacer

 

Ok I'll put some pictures on here tomorrow

 

If possible I can always modify something I have access to a lathe and a Vertical Mill

 

I didn't have time last night to take it off the car and pulled apart I was kind of tied up doing some adjustments on my tuner Studio MS
