just got off the phone with frank mewshaw, whos teammate micheal fratena runs car craft street race in an orange camaro. michael set both ends of the record this weekend with a 9.048 and 150mph. all with a 72mm turbo and one those silly blow throughs that dont work.
he made it to the finals but spun the tires and lost at the end.

no micheal is running a 72mm turbo from precision. he had several pages of story about his car in a past car craft. its very very budget compared to most of the guys hes racing with.

Man that is a sweeeeeet car. I checked it out at the Bradenton NMCA race and the US Street Nationals. I wonder how long it will be before they change the rules to slow him down? That is huge MPH compared to the rest of the class!!

 

he was worried about that except now theres 2 or 3 other turbo cars in the class. he weighs 3400# and now has to add weight because of the win. all with a .550 lift cam

 

What's his suspension setup?

 

i think hes running stock rear springs and shocks with a home made torque arm and wilwood rear discs, with adjustable front struts and stock disc brakes. not a whole lot to it really. its also got a ford 9"

next time im at their shop ill take note of what hes got on the car.

 

Thanks. Makes me start to regret putting coilovers on my car even more. I know I haven't tested enough but my car hooked better with 26x10 slicks & stock shocks & springs all the way around than it does now with 28x10.5s & double adjustable coilovers out back.

That car looks, sounds & runs awesome.

I saw that car last weekend in BG......man that thing takes off like a rocket at about 100' out. I couldn't believe when I saw the 9.0x. Amazing. Franks yellow twin turbo firebird is bad ass as well.

its got a pt1000 w/a on it now. he traded the radials for it. +100lbs for the ic, -100 for the radials i believe.

 

i was at their shop this past weekend. hes got tube kmember and front arms and adjustable stuff up front, out back its stock shocks, stock springs, nothing adjustable or anything like that.

 

this past weekend at michigan micheal set the bar once again.... first 8 second pass in car craft street race with an 8.99
