I'm building a 408w and am curious if the mpt76 Q trim will be big enough. heads will be either victor jr, or pro comp 210's (depends on $$$), street strip car, cam will most likely be a roller from cam motion, 750 holley from turbo technologies. looking to run 9"s on pump gas if possible. thanks

Simple answer is no, backpressure will a major power killer. An 80mm at least for this many cubes and a T-6 footprint is needed also. Search around and see what others are using for 400+ cubes.

I was talking to turbo technologies and I suggested an 88mm. they said it would be overkill :bang:

If on a budget you would be better off starting with a T6 S475 than a T4 MP76... search a little some folks have went wicked fast on the S475...

I'm assuming I would want the 1.10 housing and not the 1.32?

Depending on how fast you are going to turn this 408w it might work just fine. This turbo has a 1.00AR and if you are building a 5500-6000rpm street car it would be very responsive. The S400s are great turbos, make great power, but in the end if you don't need a T6 flange then why do it? There are some T4 based turbos out there that are beasts, and much smaller than a T6. Your sig says a '93 LX, so I don't understand why everyone automatically says you need a T6 turbo to get that in the 9s honestly.

I would go 88 with that big of a turbo if it was me. A 408 will spool it fast and leave plenty of power left.

Dude it is the internet....we all got opinions so the saying goes....

It looked like dollars was an issue to you so I tried to recommend a turbo commensurate in price with the MPT76 but that would work better on 408 cubes. - search round a bit and you'll figure it out. I wish I had went with a t6 flange on my 383 - but I will work with what I have for now - get it running get the chassis worked out and then I might look at something bigger. That 76 might get you to the nines but prob not on pump gas. JZ 97 SS 1500 won't steer you wrong.

Go with a GT88 from Garrett. We have them for under 1300 bucks.....hard to beat, they are pretty compact and will make stupid amounts of power.

Are those T4 or T6 Based and how does it compare to a PT-88 - doesn't a PT-88 use a Garrett center section?

    thanks
