It will choke big time. Your EGT's will climb quickly.

The turbo its self is fine. the exhaust housing is small. Like stock 302 ish is what I would put that housing on. I second a .96 housing. I have a precision .96 here ready to ship from a cancelled order for 190.00 shipped to your door in the 48 states.

ya its all about rpm range. you could run the .68 and spool up like 2000 rpm's and then it would dye out at lets say 4800 rpms. so by moving up the housing sizes your going to move up the rpm's for spool up time. Thats why a .96 will spool up around 3000 and pull till 6000 or so. Give or take a couple hundered rpm's depending on motor setups.

Where is the best place to buy a MP T70 w/ .96 housing? How much do they usually go for?

Thanks for all the replies :2thumbs:

Well anyway.... since no one answered, my point is simply that if you run a good wastegate, it will bypass to give you the boost you want, so you should not see an increase of restriction over a 302... after all.... 500 hp on a 302 will create the same exhasut volume as 500 hp on a 351... there is no magic involved.

THe only thing that wil change is that th einlet to exhaust pressure ratio may change... as you may only need 12 psi on a 351 to create the same power as 15 psi on a 302.... so if exhasut BP is 25 psi, the ratio is slightly in favour of the 302.... but meh... just retard the intake lobe a few degrees....

a mpt70 should be good to 850hp from what i read on their website. but I would say it would be safer in the 700hp range.

What other turbos do you recommend other than the MP T70 w/ .96 housing?

What are your power plans? What fuel do you plan to use. What H/C/I are you thinking about? What % drag/street are you thinking...

These are some of the questions that you need to answer prior to anyone giving you a better turbo sizie recommendation.

The MP T70 is a good cookie cutter choice for a typical 302-351, but not always optimal.

It really depends on your $$$ and hp range and new or uses. Precisions start at 1300.00 & up on the same size turbo. master power is aboput the cheapest reliable turbo I know of new.

On a 383 windsor I ran twin 60-1's with .68 housings and it had instant boost but fell off power about 6k so on a single that .68 is going to hurt power bad I would consider a 1.xx depending on what rpm your looking to turn ;)

You are actually a very good canidate for the MP T70 with either a 0.84 A/R or 0.96 A/R p-trim turbine. Don't make this more difficult than it has to be. You can get a slightly better turbo if you go with a Garrett GT series; however, expect to spend 2x the $$$.

you can see in my sig what i made with my setup, just go with the mp t70 easy and cost effective but it works and will easily get you to your 500rwhp goal and then some

will this be carbed or efi?
