Have a 1990 4runner 4x4 that is almost ready for a wiring harness and tune. My question is what to expect from the installed K26 (Audi application) or if I should be looking at changing a few bits. Turbo is in good condition and is fed water/oil. A/a intercooled, engine size is 2.4L, 8.5:1, manual trans. One opinion is that it will have lag but good in upper rpm's- I'm thinking idle through 5500 should be good for me.

Did you ever try it? The turbo doesn't look much different in size than a smallish T3. I would guess it to spool around 3000.

The 22-R/RE is a great little torquer, but they don't move all that much air.

All together for some time- looking for engine management right now. I've heard good things about this turbo for my application.

Welll chit, time flies. Finally dusted off the truck and we are half way through tuning for DD. Except for the 22RE tractor engine valvetrain- the whole package is very quiet even the blowoff is oem like. so far 6psi 150hp at 190tq. Not sure what 89 octane will support for boost. Do have some white smoke just off boost at coast or decel, will start with redoing the turbo draineback redo.
Using an upgraded version of this.
