Is 24 ft lbs the proper rod bolt torque on stock bolts?

    The haynes manual lists this as the max torque on the rod bolt nuts.

    That seems real low to me. I just assembled my motor with those specs. Should I retorque higher?

    If that is wrong....I wonder what other specs are wrong. What is the main cap torque too?

    Factory Specs

    Connecting Rod Bearing Cap Nuts 19-24 ft. lbs.

    Main Bearing Cap Bolts 60-70 ft. lbs.

    Use Moly Lube on the threads and torque them to 21ft/lb

    If you didn't lube the threads and the face of the nut that contacts the rod cap. Take them all off and redo them.

    Ask ANY engine builder and they will tell you that rod bolts are THE MOST CRITICAL fastener in the engine. You have to get them right.
