What can you guys tell me about this turbo:

I was talking over my combo with Beau at Mental Addiction and he recommended this turbo. My combo is a 94GT with a Keith Craft Sportsman 302 with Eagle Crank/Rods, SRP pistons, and a Jerry built 4R70W. I told him I was looking to push in the 500 to 600 RWHP range.

    Thanks,
    Matt

    That would be great!
How does the physical size compare to say a T64 or T76?
Is the Ball Bearing option a waste in our V8 cars?

    Thanks,
    Matt

Its about the same as a T76, but all of the wheels in the GT series turbos are updated with the newest technoligy. As far as Ball Bearing goes I really think you will be happy with out it. Ill have to go through my old Email to get the Number for that guy in Tampa. I will be Running the GT42 Also. I just sold my T76. $750 seems really cheap to me, I have the money for mine and Im ready to buy. Maybe we can get a deal if we by both of ours at the same time.

Thier is a few options on the GT42. I will be using the 53 trim compressor wheel. I am also going with the 1.01 or 1.15 A/R with the free floating option. Im not sure if their is more options, but we should find out.

i have sold and installed both and know firsthand that the gt42 on a 302" engine even with the smallest turbine is pretty slow spooling for a street driven car with less than 16-18 psi of boost. these are a large frame tv based series with a fairly heavy, large turbine wheel. on the other hand the to4r/pt67 will spool very quick ( i have seen 18psi @ 3600 w/.96 open turbine) and will support 700hp. you can buy one for around $925.00 with the downpipe v-band adapter already attached along with the full garrett warrenty. :bling:

    Hey 91GT,
You think a 355 will spool the GT42? with the 1.00 A/R? Why dont they offer a smaller Turbine? What is the trim like on the GT42...is it like a R-Trim?

    Beau,
What A/R you think I should go with on the GT42. I plan on making 900 FWHP. And what kind of prices can you get the GT42's?
