I was looking at getting a 73 elcamino 454/t400, and doing twin ebay chargers in the bed. But the guy has lost the title, and doesn't seem interested in getting a duplicate. Well, that sucks. So I started thinking, I have an 85 z28 that has the 305tpi in it, but about 6 months ago my sister in law was driving threw a puddle and it sucked water. When she got it started it was makin an awful sound (like a card in a bicycle spoke) I'm assuming it bent a rod. It has been sitting ever sence. I got to talking to my buddy in cali and between both of us we have a 4 bolt standard 350 (010) a scat crank, crower rods, heavily ported camel backs, and a comp 280 cam (.480/.480 230/230)so, we're gunna make this a budget/ use what we got build. I'm taking the block to him in two weeks to have him do the machine work. We've got a hook up on probe forged pistons (found of the shelf ones that should put us at 9.2 c.r.) I'm thinkin I'll keep the TPI just because I have it, and run it with a megasquirt. I'm torn between turbo's though, either a mp70 .96exhaust, or the bw 74mm with the 1.32 exhaust. I like the t4 frame of the m.p. but am concerned it won't be quite enough for the motor? My goals include 100% street car, I don't want a street legal race car, I want a street car I can race. Max of about 6k rpm, leave the 3.23's in it for now, ~2800 stall, pump gas, and I'd like to be somewhere around 550rwhp. My questions, will a walbro 255 intank be enough for this with a stock fuel system (obiously with bigger injectors and a boost sensitive fpr)? and which turbo would be a better suit for the motor? Any input welcomed, thanks guys.

Sounds like a really cool start. Are you going to run the 700R4? Those years aren't real tough but you can do some upgrades on it.

For now. It was rebuilt last june, along with a new converter but I dont expect it to handle much. I'd like to get it up and running and start tuning, then look at swappin for a 350 or 400.

I know ;) I broke 3 of them in my braket car before I built a 9" for it. So nobody with experiance using a single walbro 255? I really don't wanna go threw a sump, new lines, a1000, new rails, ect... what about any other in tank pump?

O.k., little update. Got the motor/transmission out of the car, tore it down and sure enough #8 rod bent. My buddy called yesturday, and all the machine work is done. Decided to go with the summit 1105 cam (.465/.488 282/292 114) Heads are done. Headed his way next friday to assemble the long block. Decided to go with twin walbro 255's and have the 2nd one triggered by a hobbs switch. Anywho, still floating around which turbo to go with. The s475 is big enough not to choke the motor, and provide room to grow, but it's a really tight fit in a 3rd gen ecpecialy when snaking a 4" down pipe threw it, plus I would like to start seeing boost ~3000-3200 rpm, and I'm worried the 1.32 housing on the s475 won't start building boost til 3700-4000. I was told the mp70 won't be enough for the motor, and I can't afford 2 of em. I was looking twin gt45 chinese knock offs that vsracing has, but will they be able to spool down low (1.05 a/r t4)??? or mabey twin ebay "t70"s ......Just lookin for some turbo advise please??? Thanks again guys. I'll start getting pics when the motor starts goin together.

Picked up a t350 from a buddy. Its got the bigger sprag, shift kit, clutches ect. Built by mikes transmissions a few years ago. He was running it behind a 11.4x pump gas b&m blown bbc. It still a forward non-tbrake vbody. Thats fine, dont need a brake on my street car. Figure with a good converter it should be fine for a couple years.

MPT76 is on a t4 frame, correct? what a/r? how much h.p. will they support? I intend on going to a steath ram, but want to get the car moving first. Goal is to run 10.5's on race gas.....got a nitrous car I'm hunting :yum:

    MPT76Q is T4 w/68mm turbine.
    45 is similar to a 76HPS

Is the 68mm turbine big enough to support the 355 in a single charger set up? I'd like to see 650 at the tire on race gas and 20ish psi (or less if it'll do it)

Not sure with that much boost from the TPI.
Don't see a lot of the Q trims on here and even fewer MP45's.
Lots of guys running the TC's w/68mm but they should flow more on the turbine.

I'd try the Q, it shouldn't be too hard to sell if it's unacceptable. It should spool sooner than you listed.
If you make sure you run a big down pipe like a 3.5 at least and maybe vent the WG to atmosphere if needed.
There's also a 480 w/83mm T6 wheel in the classifieds for $700 for when the n2o guy adds a bigger jet....or you break that motor.

Stealthram uses a felpro 1205 gasket so you'll have a step on stock heads.

I was plannin to vent the w.g. to the atmosphere, and runnin a sinister 4" system. I like the S400's (used one on my wifes 77 camaro 64 mm t6 1.1ar) and it spooled great. Drove on the street like normal, and only came into boost when I wanted it to. It would even build 5psi on the 2 step and footbrake at 2600rpm. But I fear the larger 1.32 housing will need to be spun 3400+. So, with the 76Q the exhaust side is gunna be the restiction. correct?

Hmmm.....What about this. S475, 1.32 ex housing, and a quickspool valve? Between the quickspool valve and a 2 step, I should be able to see boost down around 3000 I would guess.
