What is the record for the fastest stock block, built or unbuilt.

 

I would think that would be Norman Chang. I know he went 9.35 with his stock block 5.0. It did have crower sportsman rods and good pistons, though, if memory serves me correctly.

 

chang and a few others of the old race cars. then there are the hillbilly mechanics at some of the local tracks that run in 2350# cars that aren't even track-worthy but have a stock block between the rails. a friend of mine had one of those cars - it was SCARY what all could have happened with a car this stripped. no cage, glass doors, no rear brakes at all, and gutted beyond belief. you wouldn't even think it could roll down the track on it's own. it was fast though

 

What kind of mph are we looking at. I guess I should rephrase the question to say

What is the fastest turbo mustang with a stock block, both ET and MPH

 

I think Norman ran 150mph.

 

I think LaRocca and company went 9.50's with a 100% stock short block

 

10.01 @ 142 mph

10.01 @ 142 mph with 100% stock 90' short block, PTK Street Kit with air/air intercooler, T-76 P Trim, NON Ported Twisted wedge heads, 50 lbs injectors, A9L Computer w/ extender, Race Fuel System and TKO Transmission, car weighed 3300 lbs with me in it on 28.50 ET Streets.

Drove it to the track and back most times, Probably not a record, but was a blast, would spin tires almost to half track!

 

What kind of power will a 76ptrim support? I bet they spool very nice.

We have a few customers make over 825-850 at the rear tires with a T-76 P trim, they were taking the turbo out of its efficiency range and they were on a Dynojet?

That particular turbo is rated to 950 flywheel hp?

That turbo makes good boost at around 2500 rpm.

Somehow I dought that your going to get a responce from a thread that is just about three years old. I'd imagine that a 100% stock block is a 302. But thats just my guess.

Adam (cocheese) ran 9.0's with a stock 5.0 block. His vids are on street fire and he is on tampa racing.

 

I had a coupe back in the day that went 9.9@140 with 100% stock block, gt-40 heads and intake and Vortech S trim. It put down 600 rwhp, but it did last that long.. LOL!

 

True, I beleive it was actually 9.08 with a PT76GTS.
