im looking to try and make a min of 1000 hp with the stock 4 bolt block. I can get a mowtown or little m block. if that can be done safely. im just trying to use my nos block, and just convert it with different pistons. its got one race on a fresh bore hone and align hone and deck. its a 360": motor. i have a innovative dual ball t88. and front mount intercooler its going in a s10. i just want to get it done buy next season thats why i wanted to use the block i already have, save some money and get it done.

At 900+ the caps (billet steel caps) wil begin to walk.
At 1050+ you will lucky if it doesn't pull the mains out like 302 ford @ 700+hp.

Why risk your $$,$$$$.$$ internals with $50.00 junkyard block.

What about a main girdle? Would that help much?

I was going to buy a mowtown or little m and go for 1200 whp. but i wanted to jsut get the motor going so i can start the pluming for the turbo headers, intercooelr and stuff. i wanted to have it done buy next season. :chacha:

This may not be the same but a local heads up racer used a stock 350 block turbo 383 in an 80's S-10 which ran 5.25 in the 8th.He ran alky and said he finally did a full fill because wherever he filled to it would bust right above it.So whatever HP it takes to run 5.25 at 3000lb's I would say back it off a little from there.I think it would be best to burn pistons in a stock block while tuning than use a Motown.

No the block is just the weak link.

I would not use motor mounts above 600 hp either.
    Front and rear motor plates.

    Matt 010 castings are cheap-ish.
Sure you cam make some power.
Sure they will last a while.
If you goals are over 1k don't risk your parts.

We run a 010 block , stock caps, stock main bolts, stock head bolts, 882 heads, stainless 5000 series valves,
scat 4340 crank, eagle H beams, trw -22cc forged pistons.extra clearance on big ends and mains bearings.
Makes 1014 hp and 1000 ft'lbs. spent 5 days on dyno to get tune up close ( 75 pulls).....twin t3/t4 hybrids turbonetics- 57 trim - 24 psi boost--- does it easy.
    MECH injection , no electrics,
Nothing wrong with components... you will only have problems when the tune up is wrong... when detination occurrs...
YES it is a time bomb, but it will stay together if rpm in under 7000rpm, and TUNE -UP in right.
STAY fat and monitor oil filter for cap walk.
Think about it!!!. turbo engines MAKE torque...load up engine and drive it like a diesel truck--- loves it..

Years ago they were = .
These days the Dart is a better piece.
I have heard stories from other shop about Bill Mitchells stuff breaking.
You can get the Little M w/ Iron or Steel caps.

    Good luck.
