Hi! I just bought a set of manley rods but they come with the standard ARP rod bolts not the arp 2000. I'm shooting for 650-700 rwhp and don't think it will rev over 7000rpm, i'm just wondering if it's worth upgrading to the ARP2000 or if the ones that will come with the rods will do the job?

You'll be fine with the ARP 8740 bolts in there.

How much would it cost you to upgrade them?

Probably between 100$ and 150$. I checked on summit but could'nt find the bolts for the manley rods. For 302 rods it cost 100$ and for chevy manley rods it cost 145$

If they are only $100 then why not just get them just because and never worry about them?

I had the arp 1000s and when I had the shortblock freshened up recently the builder asked me the same thing. It didn't seem like it was really needed but figured why it was out it wouldn't be a terrible idea to upgrade.

Horsepower does not stress rods! When air and fuel goes boom it pushes the rod against the crank, the rod bolts only pull the air and fuel in. I built a road race car and is seeing high rpm downshifts, so I went with the arp2000, dunno what the difference is but they must be better.

Seriously, if you don't need them, you don't need them. Oh, you don't need them.

That's what i'm asking if i need them or not at my HP level. I know it's just 100-150$ to upgrade. And i could also get better pistons, better fuel system, better transmission, bigger turbo..... You get my point. All these little 100$ add up . If i need them, i will buy them, if not, i will keep this money in my wallet to pay my bills.

Well a better fuel system, turbo, trans, etc. cost a lot more than 100 to upgrade.....

My point was that it's inside yoru shortblock and if you just spend the $100 now and get them you won't have to fuck with the hsortblock ever again if you decide to make more power....which will happen.....

ARP 200-6207 is the part number in case you're still looking ,summit has them for around $65 and you'll need 2 sets.
