How fast with a T4 based turbo?

Just like it says, how fast can you go with a standard B&G kit (for instance) with a T4 based turbo? I have a 347 in an A4 block with most of the peripherals and some of my more zealous freinds are pushing me to go with as a bis a turbo as I can fit, while I am leaning toward a standard system that I can turn up the boost once I get everything else dialed in. Is there a defined limit to a T4 based turbo set-up? Right now my ultimate goal is to get into the high to mid 9's after I have the chassis dialed in, and I've seen plenty of people have done that with a T4, just wondering if I may be maxxing the potential of a T4 based turbo at that point and if starting off with a T6 based turbo may be a better bet.

if you're starting fresh, i would absolutely go with a t6 setup. that said, plenty of guys have gotten over 1k hp with a t4 turbo setup. but with the room to grow and the available housing with a t6, you won't have any spool issues and it will pay off in the end. search for "wolverine" on here. his car was for sale. he had a s380 on his 331 and make over 1100hp and ran 9.03 or something similar, so close to teh eights and that was through a 6 speed. my buddy just sold his car on here, it was a 347 dart seup and ran a t6 s480. on low boost it ran 9.91 on the first track outing. suspension and tune weren't even dialed in, also just foot braked it. so a little research and i think you'll be happy to use a t6 setup. a good old s480 will make plenty of power to get you there

My brother car has gone 128mph in the 1/8th with a T4 Based PT88

And a Good friend of mine has gone close to 140 in the 1/8th with a GT47-88(t4 turbo)

Thanks for the replies guys. Sounds like I can go plenty fast with at T4, is there a trade-off though? As Mike93SVT said, this is a fresh build turbo-wise and I know I've had to replace parts several times on this car already when i changed combos. I just don't know how fast I'm going to want to go. Right now I can't see wanting to go faster than 9's, but then again I didn't think I'd end up with a 347 stroker, boost and fuel system to handle huge power either. Chasing more horsepower is getting to the ridonkulously expensive stage.

You will always want more power but you can go ridiculously fast with a T4 based turbo so I dont see a reason to go a different direction. Its easier to fit too I guess. You could get a S400 type turbo for fairly cheap tho and its T6 so backpressure probably will be less for better top end.

Still overkill for 9 second runs in a foxbody. Only need about 136-140mph to get comfortably in the high 9's.

You could always do a GT91 on a T4 footprint. Its pretty much the baddest T4 available.

How does this compare to your PT88 91mm upgrade? It's shopping time for the tax return. :)

Hahaha... I like it. :) I've come across an PT88. So it's time to upgrade and might as well only upgrade once. :)

Defintily interested in getting the PT88 upgrade going. The ST80 was fun and now it's time to go faster. :) I need to look around and scrounge up some boxes and packaging material.

I'll probably give you a call next Tuesday to get the order stuff going. Do you have a rough idea of what the turn around time will be once the turbo gets to you guys?
