For my next Chevy 305 build i would like too use a set of Speedmaster/Ebay 65cc aluminum heads that have been laying around for years in a box storage. But unfortunately they have the 2.02 and 1.6 valves. This will limit the valve lift to about .425 on the intake side before valve hits the cylinder bore wall. The Chevy 305 block is already rehone 3.736 stock bore with the bore notch for the wider Chambers on the heads. 2.02 valve will be mill down too 2.00 for extra clearance.

    Question/Thoughts: i thought about using

    Howards Cams 112921-12
    Spec: 221in 225ex .410in lift .410ex lift 112 LS RPM Range 2400-6200

I was thinking i can use the high duraton profile too take advantage of the aluminum cylinder heads, without having too be concerned about the valves hitting the cylinder walls.

Will this cam be too much for turbo log manifold setup??

I am planning too install it in my 1983 Caprice. Currently it has a rering/overhaul Chevy 305 dished cast pistons, relaped stock cylinder heads, new valve springs, new valve seals, 1.84,1.5 valves, Torque RV camshaft 204in 214ex .420in .444ex 112LS, 1.5 stock rockers, Dual Plane Intake Manifold, Holley 600 Blowthrough, 8.5.1CR, 1 step colder plugs E3, Edelbrock ignition Coil. HX35 Turbocharger internal wastegate set at 8 psi. 2.625 single exhaust outlet too 3" two chamber muffler.

TH700r4 stage 2 shift kit, stock torque converter, 7.5 10 bolt 3.73 gears with spool locker, HD Cover

I am just better off reusing the current RV Torque Camshaft??

I like the 221 cam over the RV cam, even if it does have a little overlap. It would benefit from some stall in the converter. Car looks clean!

I agree with BEN. That cam isn't that large.

I love it! That car is sweet! How's it run the way it is? I'm sure it's a blast! Are you going to reuse the dual plane intake? Not sure if you may be better off with a single plane just to straighten out the flow path? I'm sure the guys on here will chime in. May work better with your cam selection on a 305 as well. Would definitely think a bit looser converter would help as well. The 700 r4 does have a nice low first gear though so you may be ok with the 373 gear in the rear as well. It's very similar to my setup in my s10 except I'm running a 4.3 with an h1c turbo. It spools nicely and really wakes up a 4.3. I'm sure the 305 was really woke up with the turbo as well. Sounds like alot of fun and a good cruiser/sleeper!

The Caprice pulls hard for a heavy car. A course 3.73 gears, th700r4 3.06 1st gear, and a fast spooling HX35 turbo helps alot.

Thank you all for the input...i should have my next Chevy 305 build finish this summer.

Chevy 305 3.736 bore, notch cylinder bore, hyper flat top pistons thermal coated, arp connecting rod bolts, stock crankshaft, Speedmaster/EBay 65cc Aluminun 2.02,1.6 heads, Howards Cams 221in 225ex .410in lift .410ex lift LS 112, CR 9:1, roller tip rockers arms, single plane intake manifold, external 50mm wastegate, with a mild 2800-3000 stall converter
