Who's running decapped injectors, and what do you think of them?

I've been debating whether to buy injectors, or go thru the work of decapping, cleaning, and flowing a stock set. Some say they work great, and others say they idle like garbage, especially in batch fire. Opinions?

Talking about LS truck injectors? No complaints and they're good for a little over 500 to the ground. I pulled injectors out of all my truck intakes, worked them over and had them sent to a guy in Kentucky and he cleaned them up and sent them back in great shape.

Microsquirt. It's worth noting that I tried decapping some corvette injectors. DO NOT!! They are a different design and they are not candidates for decapping. The cap will come off but the guts of the injector will fire out of there and be a spigot into the cylinder.

That's good to hear. Micro here as well with the stock decapped lm7 injectors was the plan.

Great injector for the basically free price IF they will hit your goals. I feel like they are on the small side for most turbo LS stuff and especially so on E85. I wouldn’t be buying 80lb injectors or smaller when the factory decapped deals will flow 70ish lbs. You want the flex fuel Injs though. Not all the LM7 injs flow well.

Snakeaterperformance sells a good “deka style” 1500cc (@58 base) for $336 shipped.

I'm only looking for 600 wheel so they actually fit pretty good even on E. I've been reading that the non flex are in the 70 lb range, and the flex are 90+. Not sure if that is what everyone is finding.

Know the PN? They usually do about double their rated flow. And pressure plays a big roll. Dont' know of any that flow 90+. Let me know if you have any more info on those.

Standard LM7 stuff is usually 25320288,25317628 and 25313185’s flow about 50-55lbs at 43psi. And at 58 psi around 70-75lbs.

The “4 hole” 12613412 are the 6.0 flex stuff that flows 51ish at 58psi. They are the biggest I’m aware of but are difficult to decap. Don’t know of anyone that’s done it successfully.

This was a list on ls1tech. No idea how valid it is.

    LS1, 29lb/hr@58psi, GM # 12561462
    LS2, 34lb/hr@58psi, GM # 12569113
    LY6, 30lb/hr@58psi, GM # 12580681
    LS3, 41lb/hr@58psi, GM # ????????
    LS7, 42lb/hr@58psi, GM # 12576341
    LS9, 48lb/hr@58psi, GM #
    12613412

Thanks for the info. I have 5 or 6 sets, plus 1 set of flex's so i'll have to see what I have. It looks like 70-75 will get me very close to 600 wheel on E85, but will definitely be pushing the dc. I have a set of Deka 80's as well, but would like to use those on a gen3 hemi I'm working on. Anyone know if there is there a huge difference in drivability between the 80's and the decapped?

Shouldn't be. The 80's are the same pintle design as the OEM injector. Same spray pattern as a decapped OEM injector. Did you use up all your inputs? Or can you do a flex fuel sensor? I run 80's in mine on E50-E60ish around 15lbs, Helps stretch the injs out a bit. (thats without an IC as well)

Good point. I plan to run a sensor. E up here varies too much to not have one for a street car.
