GT42 Large frame turbo

    what are they capable of making hp wise? are they a good turb o or are they junk? thanks

    I'd say that what they claim isn't far off - 1100 hp. The GT42s with 76mm compressors have made just over 1000 rwhp in several combinations with manual trannies that I've seen. It's definitely a good turbo. Garrett doesn't make crap. They got quite a few variations, too. 74 vs. 76mm compressors, 94 vs. 102?mm turbines. T4 or T6 and ball-bearing vs. non-bb.

    They are good turbos the S400 75 will out flow it.

    I beg to differ. From what I gather, the 75mm S400 is good to about 1000hp. I've seen the GT4276 run over 1000 to the wheels, and I've seen standard GT42s make over 900 rwhp. If anything, it's the other way around. S400s are affordable, though.

    Really depend on the size of the motor.
    A lot of "higher hp" turbo work great on hondas and supra
    but can not re-create the numbers due the the larger cid
    motor there are trying supporting.


    And the GT42 comes in several flavors.
