hey guys, this is my current project. A low budget build just to have some fun and get back to the track. Im an AMC guy and my first build was a 74 gremlin that ended up being a 10 second street car with a little shot of juice. Im taking a different approach to this new project. Im starting with a 76 Hornet stationwagon i picked up for $600, its a 38 000 mile survivor but is barn fresh with all the patina you can ask for. Its getting a turbo 5.3 LS engine from a junkyard silverado. My goal is a high 9 second street car with a $6000 budget for the entire build. Id be happy with low 10s but if i cant get into the 9s with just the turbo ill spray it until it grenades.

the car is actually pretty light weight in its stock form, i beleive its around 3000-3100lbs. So with some clever sawzall action i should be able to get it down to a racy 2700-2800. I plan to do some home made cal trac style bars along with a junkyard home made split mono leaf using dodge caravan springs. My gremlin hooked pretty good so im hoping the extra weight over the tires of this wagon will get it to bite pretty good too.

i want to keep the car looking just like it does now rigth down to the dog dish caps lol
