I know this sint modular related but figured some of you guys would have some ideas. Looking to remove some heat from the engine bay. Have a 03 with hood scoop and thinking of cutting the scoop part out to allow heat to escape and reinforce the scoop to grab air at highway speeds to help keep it cool. Anyone have ideas? What about heat extractor vents?

Seen some cars go with converting the fogs into air scoops with tubing to force some additional air under the hood.

Hood vents work but many aren't taking in air where there is a pressure point so you want to make sure they do. Thats why converting fogs works so good its a high pressure point.

Converting the scoop works but make sure you have good latching on the hood cause it can cause some lift at high speed.

Side vents work but not by themselves they help vents at the front and hood flow more by giving air an extra path to escape.

Why is the engine bay hot in the first place? Turbo setup? It's not like you mentioned any details about your setup.

We'll assume it's a turbo setup. Start by wrapping all the hot side piping or have it ceramic coated by a reputable company. Of course, a heat mat on the underside of the hood is mandatory to protect the paint.

I would follow the lead of the factory cooling setup and try to enhance that, if possible. Trying to "re-invent the wheel" by cutting holes in things should be left to the engineers. Are you seeing this alleged heat on a gauge, or just opening the hood and saying "wow, it's hot!"
