    I'm looking to build more boost off of the wastegate...I don't really want to buy a new one and I'm not sure what the brand is of the one I have now. I do know its fairly large, but only has a 6lb spring in it. Will shimming it increase the boost much or what are my options? This is for an 03 cobra with a 76mm turbo. Thanks!

    Go to a bigger spring like a 9 or 12. With the shim you will not know what it's going to be at as for as spring rate.

    We had a 38mm turbonetics gate that came with 5 shims and with all the shims in it only raised 2psi. Just get another spring

    I bet if you post a good pic of it SOMEBODY on here will know what it is. Folks on here run everything from race parts to eBay shit, and everything in between.

    Sounds like a Hellion kit to me.

    B2 = B1 * (Lf - Lc + S) / (Lf - Lc)

    Where

    B1 = Baseline boost level (no shim)
    Lf = Free length of the spring
    Lc = Compressed length of the spring in the WG (wg is closed, no boost)
    S = Shim thickness
    B2 = New Boost level with shim

    e.g.

    B1 = 5 psi
    Lf = 100 mm
    Lc = 50 mm
    S = 5 mm
    B2 = B1 * (Lf - Lc + S) / (Lf - Lc)= 5 * (55)/(50) = 5.5 psi

    lol - domn8xr was right, it's not worth shimming.
