Hi im new here but not that much to turbos. My question is I want to add a turbo to my 351w and I have some holset turbos will they work ok? The engine has hyper pistons, canfield heads, eddy vic jr carb style intake converted to efi and a small cam. The turbos I have are a hx35 and a h1c will any of these work ok on my setup tops will be around 10 psi. I want a single turbo only and engine will rev to 5500rpm max its on a 93 lightning what do u guys think? Lmk

Those are way too small. You're better off going with a cheap 70mm with a p-trim turbine.

The 2 turbos you list are to small. I had a 67mm p trim on my 95 lightning, then a 74gts .96 A/R turbine housing Precision which was good, but now I have a GT47-88 which is even better. I have also been the quickest in the 1/4 mile with the GT47 with comparable boost. I run 15-18psi on the bone stock short block.

still gonna be smallish on a 351w.. but depending on the exhuast CM you could make it work. Just wouldn't be optimal.

That's a better choice, still a very small turbo though. Iit will definitely make 425.

I would run a 40+mm gate so you have room to grow.

While rebuilding the h1e found out the shaft is no good. What other turbo would be a good alternative one that can be bought cheap?

The shortblock is stock thats why 425 would be good. Also for now I just want to try a turbo and see how I like it thats why I dont want to spend too much on the turbo for now.

You say good for now... I said good for now, same engine same truck. I have a s475 equivalent turbo in my truck and love it much more than the small p-trim turbo, Get the s475, you can turn it up when you want instead of needing to modify the turbo system to fit the larger unit. The resale value of the s475 is also decent, if you ever decide to sell it. It is also upgradeable.
