dodge diesel trans

    my brother has an 97 2500 with the 12 valve diesel automatic. the truck has no balls. when driving and you want to pass and step on throttle,it does not down shift. even on longer hills,the truck does go just not that great til the torque converter locks in od then it actually wants to go. any ideas?

    This could be a number of things 97 is a 518RE but if the engine is low on power it want let the trans kick down either have it scanned for any codes.
    1.Check fluid level
    2.check kick down cable
    3.check govenor pressure it should be 1# for every MPH.

    check the kick down linkage and the throtel linkage was a recalll on some of those 12 valves linkage

    he ended up trading the truck for an 00 f350 with a v-10.
