I can't help but wonder why none of this stuff ever makes it into the Newbie forum. :scared:

Joking and chastising aside, you only need a boost controller if you want to easily raise the boost higher than the wastegate spring(s) are set for.....without having to pull the wastegates apart to change springs. It doesn't matter how many turbos there. Some people have been complaining about the user-friendliness of some electronic boost controllers lately.

Even if spring is at 20LB you may want to run at 6 to 8 Lb on road..
NO !! you don't .. BUT you need to have a wastegate to control boost...
If you want it adjustable ?? Then yes!!!
The electronic type HOLD boost to desired setting then holds it there...
The mechanical type tend to bleed off before boost setting..[Then it can cause some spikes]
Even without any boost controler the pressure on wastegate builds on spring..
As you can imagine you need some pressure on gate to make it seal!!!
If you have 8Lb spring and 6Lb boost you can see there would be some wastegate leakage...

    I agree!
they need to look into the controller they are going to purchase and get a copy of the manual before they buy it to see how easy or complicated it is. :2thumbs:

i have the AEM TRU-Boost. Its very simple and user friendly, doesnt have as many features as an E-boost or the innovative but it gets the job done and can be controlled from inside the car. 2 setting and overboost. At under $300 new its hard to beat for a street/strip car.
