    Hi ,
as the title says , im looking at sealing the aluinium head onto the iron block on a 6cyl we run a flathead v8 dragster with boost and have been using hussey gaskets and orings with no problems. but see alot of people using cometic ones aswell.

my setup is in the builds here but comp is 9.5 hoping to make my power with under 20psi boost on e85.hoping for around 500 morosohp could anyone recomend one that would be better for my application?.

Go cometic. Put them on dry and ensure both head and block surfaces are true. Much less hassle than o ring.
    Nice build!!!

is the only reason to keep clear from the copper and orings because of the extra work to fit them.

do the mls gaskets hold more boost?

    Cheers

I've been using copper/o-ring for a while now. Don't know why people always complain about sealing.

Don't have info on me ..
The depth the O ring is set in head or block..
Some I have seen don't have 0 ring groove deep enough..
    I've run copper / O ring for 10 years with 750 h.p D/D..
Btw it was Jamie Farmer who machined heads ..

It depends on thickness of O ring used...
Torquing head down two or three times to get 0 ring to
bite into copper gasket. 3M sealer was applied to both
    surfaces including gasket...
There's spray on stuff now much easier...
Each engine is different.. Some use receiving grooves in block...
Many ways to skin a toad...
Machining of head needs to be smooth as...
    You knew that !!!
