What sort of devices are out there to prevent over boosting when you're running no on board computers incase of a wastegate failure?

Boost pressure relief valve / overboost valve set to some value above your boost level. You'll need to run a BOV as well.

Depending on what ign you're running, and your timing window, pulling timing above a certain boost level can be pretty effective as well.

Pressure switch with reverse relay logic....or normally close pressure switch until overboost is reached...........boost goes above set pressure....relay is activated via a pressure switch and interrupts power path to to ignition coil.

Certainly a rough way to do it...but it would function for a fail safe

I wonder if a latching relay with the hobbs switch would be even better. So it keeps the power off to the ignition until you physically unlatch the relay via button so you dont end up in a weird situation where its rapidly cutting in and out like an old school hard rev limiter.

    Pulling timing usually increases boost.

At a certain point i'll agree, but it's definitely better than letting it boost spike without pulling any. It's no fuel, or ign cut, but its something.

Just my opinion here, but id spend the extra cash on a micro to control the ign (curve and boost cut) and a few other things before buying the valve.
