Thought I would post a few pics of my jeep grand Wagoneer that I’m working on. Ford 460 engine stroked to a 502. Rear mount GT 4294 turbo. Running on a Megasquirt ultimate EFI system. No Intercooler. Forged internals, Planning on running 5 to 8 psi of boost this is my daily driver....that is when I’m not working on it which means I haven’t driven it much this year .... So I’m not looking for a high rpm range or crazy horsepower. I’m hoping I can get it to spool before 3000 RPM anxious to see how it runs. Will be running pump gas and CNG.

here’s my turbo scavenge can, probably the most unique piece I made during the build. The cap has a float switch in that will trigger an alarm If it overflows, I wish I could take credit for the pretty welds! But I just tack everything together and bring it to a friend of mine who is a fabricator and he fixes my crappy welds runs nice beads and makes it look good.

I spy a cam position sensor. Is that a 4.2L/5.0L sensor hybrid or something else?

It’s a custom cam sync from a 351 Windsor fitted with a 460 oil pump gear. I am running sequential ignition with LS coils and a 32-1 trigger wheel. The fuel injection is also unusual, I have eight gasoline injectors welded into the intake runners, also have another 8 CNG injectors Welded it into my carb hat and I switch between the injectors with eight separate dual pole relays which switch the signal wire when I flip a switch on my steering column. In addition to that I have a holly terminator throttle body with another four injectors so I can blend in additional gasoline fuel when my CNG regulator runs out of steam. I haven’t finished the tuning to get the supplementary injectors working yet but it’s all plumbed and wired.

Very cool. I was curious because I am swapping a 460 into a 98 GT and will need a cam position sensor for the EEC-V.

when I first put the 460 in my Jeep I ran it with an A9L ECU out of an 89 Mustang and eventually switched it out for a Megasquirt MS3 Pro Ultimate. Wish I had done this from the beginning would have saved me a steep learning curve. The MS3 is awesome and much easier to tune.

are you going to be running a quarterhorse or tweeker tuning module to retune the EEC-V for the swap?

I have HPTuners for tuning and will probably rely heavily on efidynotuning.com for the initial setup. I'm sticking with the EEC-V because I want all the factory stuff (dash, cruise, ac, etc) to work as intended. Basically pulling the 4.6L/5 speed out and sneaking a 460/C6 back in it's place. Mockup pic. Going to start off n/a, then maybe add a blower such as a Procharger D1SC.

If you are set on using your factory ECU I would recommend going with the quarter horse instead of having to pay somebody to reflash your ECU all the time. I pretty much learned everything I know on the efidynotuning website And I’m glad I wasn’t paying somebody each time I made a change with the number of parts I have switched out over the last several years

I didn’t realize you already have a tuning module that hptuner looks pretty sweet just looked at it on YouTube looks a lot easier than what I was just recommending!

Curious as to why you are running a dual fuel system?

Back in 2006-2007 when I first did a 460 swap CNG was .64 cents a gallon And gasoline was around 4.00 and I could drive my BBF for the same as a small motorcycle, after putting all the work into it I have stuck with even though it isn’t saving much, figure the high octane will be good with boost too. That is yet to be seen.

I have often toyed with the idea of trying this on a street project. Just don't know where to start getting info and the fuel storage would be a bitch as well. We have a local pull up and pump CNG station, designed for fleets, but hell, a car will work too.

I live Utah where we have quite a few CNG stations and I have one right at the freeway entrance near my home. I wouldn’t recommend it unless gas prices were way high and CNG way low like they used to be. I try to convince myself it was worth it but if I counted my time and parts I probably paid at least three times what I have paid in gas savings. LOL not to mention I’m On my third engine not because of CNG but other sad mishaps , I have a little 4.5 gallon tank mounted undeneath and another 7 gallon tank in the cargo area of the wagoneeer.

Looking at your mockup, do you have room for a water pump and radiator fan with that setup? Guessing maybe you are going with an electric pump? One of the toughest things for me was the cooling system. After going through several fan systems I ended up with a low profile two fan puller that only gives me about 1/2” of clearance from my pulleys and another Deraille auxiliary fan mounted to the frame. That auxiallary cooler made a big difference.
