What's with the ads in the threads? Did I miss something somewhere that I need to like upgrade my account to a premium version or something? I don't remember seeing these before...it's like on other sites where they say "Create an account to stop seeing these ads" or something. Not a big deal, just kinda wondering.

The ads between posts where there when I came on board. I got rid of the ugliness of them (in my opinion) to make them blend in better with the forum's theme last week. Before, that ad placement was in between the 1st and 2nd post with no rounded border around it, I added the rounded boarder and the TTF logo next to it, but its still in the same location it was in before - its probably just more noticeable to those who have been starting at the same exact type of page for a long time.

I had to disable Adblock Plus just to see what you all were going on about. It's back on now, so no more ads. :2thumbs:

Yup, I see the 2nd post that is from 'Authorized Ad', but it's empty, as it should be, whereas nothing appeared the old way. Iirc my ipad displays them because I don't think mobile browsers have those kind of extensions yet.

Ken you are right there was always Google ad's between the 2nd post and it's always from my cookies because most is Houston related or shit i was googleing ( is that a word ?) or searching for so it's working off my tracking cookies. I guess what caught my eye was the avatar and boarders, it just stands out more.

They are definitely more noticable now. I realize they were there before, but they took up a lot less real estate.

Yes, because I use an ad blocker, and apparently you should too. :)

    This is what I see:

Meh, I watch lots of porno, so ads are something I have to suppress to maintain sanity. (wish someone would invent a live jasmine.com pop-behind blocker though.....)

Since i usually use safari, I have an extension just for that, but they all work the same. This literally takes less than a minute to install and activate in firefox or chrome.

Ah, that makes sense. I've been running AdBlock+ for years and forgot the banners were even there between the first two posts. Thanks for the answer! It's not that big of a deal. Do you still get paid even if I don't see the text in the ad?

I think we have to click on them. And I click on them every once in a while just so they can get paid.

It's more annoying now because it looks like a post. But who really cares.

Ads are both paid per click or per 1,000 views, it depends on which ad is rotating through at the time. Ad blockers kill both. I understand the desire for blockers - there are some very outlandish sites out there as far as ads go, more ads than content on the page and I've done it myself. On content driven sites which I enjoy and frequent... I white list them so they can keep the lights on, especially the smaller guys like forums, blogs, etc.

If you use one... I'm not going to raise holy hell, that's not my style, especially if you have a crappy slow Internet connection - but I also don't think its appropriate to facilitate downloading it through TTF (sort of like going into a store and telling customers how to get everything for free in front of the owner, lol). I do ask that you consider adding TTF to your white list. If not for the ad between post 1 and 2 (indirect advertisers), then at least for the direct sponsor ads at the top (these are the sponsors you already see in discussions here). They make TTF possible more than anything else.
